I'm not certain, but any installed font should be available to the program. That's how it normally works. __________________________________

Hi Jonathan

You can copy fonts and symbols into PD8 Titles from MS word.

1. Open PD
2. Open a title box
3. Open MS word
4. Highlight MS word font/symbol right click copy
5. In PB8 Title use control V to paste font/symbol from MS word into the title box.

Good luck Happing editing

Best Regards

Neil

Spot on Neil - that's the way to get additional symbols in.

Jaime - yep you're right, any font on your system is available.

Jonathon and all -

A similar question was asked in the DirectorZone Forum recently and, in trying to answer it, we found that PD only seems to recognise TrueType fonts (.ttf).

http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/posts/list/1680.page

OpenType fonts (.otf) on my system do not show up in PD.

Cheers - Tony

Interesting. As far as I know I don't have any OpenType fonts. I have used the copy/paste trick to get the copyright symbol before. There's a key combo for it, but I never can remember what it is. Good tip. __________________________________

I know we're drifting slightly off topic, but...

Jaime - I usually copy & paste from Word or Notepad, because that's how some of my text is processed. I can never remember those keystrokes either.

For a one-off insert of symbols, I generally go to Windows Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map. Once the font & symbol are chosen - copy, return to PD & paste in title, then format as required.

Cheers - Tony

Hi all

good news/bad news

found the font on internet(for free) imported into windows and it worked a treat in PD8. complete success

Cut and paste from a word doc and:
Copyright symbol worked (created originally by ( c )
Random symbol from symbols didn't work
general text worked.
In all cases, however the PD8 text box font overroad whaterver was imported.

However given the ease of importing fonts from the web, don't see this as a major drama (for me at least)

cheers for now and thanks for the great posts

Speaking of fonts I need some more I had a font (name unknown) I liked but when I formated it was gone...must have been from another program.
I have a font disk of 5000 but not what I'm looking for.

Anyway there a about 2 trillion font sites (I counted them).......anyone know of a safe one.

Help, looking for fonts.....talk slowly I'm OLD!!!

You're counting well for an oldie, Fann Blade!

Some font sites I occasionally use when I need something particular are:

http://www.fontsquirrel.com/

http://www.searchfreefonts.com/categories/

http://simplythebest.net/fonts/crazy_fonts.html

http://www.fontspace.com/

TrendMicro Internet Security never complains when I visit these sites & it can be a bit picky!

Cheers - Tony
