Is this just me but whenever typing a post and reaching the end of the working window, your text doesn't start scrolling up revealing new typing area but rather remains still and your typing goes beyond the visibility....

Andy,
I hope I understand your point.

The text box is a standard html sort here on the forum. When you've reached the end of the allowed text in the viewable area the up/down slide controls become visible - so you can continue typing.

That is true, you do get the controls and can scroll up/down once you exceed the viewing area with your text, however, once you resume typing, the text in the window jumps to the top and whatever you type goes beyond your view. You can scroll down and see what you've just typed, but no sooner you resume, the text jumps back to the top. Is it just me? Try it.

At last!

EDITED - I've taken the quote bit out as it distorted the page display.

OK, try the above. Hold down "1" key until it filled four lines. Hit return and type "1" on each line continuously. On the 18th line your "RETURN" command will be accepted as "SPACE"? This is where the fun starts. Change to another key "2" and continue. Type like 5-6 lines. Do you see the window jerking erratically? Every time you reach 18th line something happens to the window viewing area.

OK, now try this, at this point try scrolling up using the keyboard, not the mouse, all the way to the top, and then all the way to the bottom. Does the window start acting past the 18th line? Can you reach the bottom? I do not think so. At some point, while continue hitting "down", the window starts moving "UP?".
Try to scroll down using the mouse and to add text at the end. Can u see what you type? Crazy.

Sorry Andy,
I'm used to the text box and I don't have a problem with it as you've described.

Must be at your end....

Mine does the same as yours Andy.

Once the text gets to a certain amount of lines, everytime I hit a key it jumps from top of the text box down to the line I'm typing and back up to the top of the text again in a split second. Basically it won't show me what I'm typing - all I can see is the top of the text.

Spartan,

Bulls eye! That is the exact effect I get as well. I am not alone.

I better shorten my posts to under 18lines or type long posts in another editor and only then paste them in the window.

Andy - XL (have you had an upgrade?), Dafydd, Jaime & Spartan -

At my end, and some others', posting responses doesn't function as you'd expect.

You'd think that formatting text ought to work as well as a basic word processor. I find myself doing a fair bit of cutting and pasting unless I know, in advance, what I want highlighted. Just using plain text is fine, but it isn't always the best option.

When a response goes beyond the size of the text box, and formatting changes are made (eg. bold), the view jumps back to the top of the text box... then you have to scroll back to where you were.

So - I guess the answer is to keep it short & simple & all will go well.

Cheers - Tony
