Importing/capturing from mini dvd ram disk into PD 8

Hi Folks.
I am so frustrated.
I had PowerDirector 6.5 for quite awhile and a few days ago upgraded to 8.0 via dowload from Cyberlink Site. I thought I was getting the biggest and best version with multiple vid tracks/PIP, etc. but that is not what I got. BUT that is for another message.

MY PROBLEM now is:
Unfortunately I can't get more that 1.7 seconds of video into my media folder from a 19-minute clip that was recorded onto a mini-DVD ram disk on my Hitachi camcorder. I had no problem with PD 6 doing this by using the capture from DVD function.
I am about ready to uninstall PD 8 and try to reinstall my PD 6.
The dvd-rams contain priceless vidoes of my mother shot shortly before she died in late September. I want to be able to edit them either in PD 8 or output as AVIs and editing in Pinnacle Studio 12, like I used to do with PD 6.
Please help.

I'm afraid I can't answer your question, but you can have the master video plus up to 9 PiP. Maybe you can describe the problem, like steps taken or error messages, and someone might can help. __________________________________

I'm not familiar with your camera but have a suggestion.

Cant you place the removable miniDVD into your PC's disc drive and extract the data by "Exploring" the disc? Extract is just copy and paste to a place on your Hard Drive.

I'm just suggesting a simple workaround.

I have seen this happen when the video is shot using VR mode, you end up with a VRO file instead of a VBO file (my experience using a editor other than PD.

There is a free utility called streamclip
http://www.squared5.com/
that you can use to demux the vro to a mpg and audio stream. Then use the editor. Just For Fun
