Hey Kelly, i used to get this message quite a bit when trying to burn.
I am not sure what you have on the timeline whether just video, pictures, titles, transitions, etc., but for me it was always the titles that created a problem, I had to do them over from scratch a few times, sometimes just updating all the material on the timeline that is easiest will do the job.

Let me know what you have in the project, sometimes PD8 is just quirky as hell, also if you didn't burn with folders that way you don't waste a disc if it doesn't work, if it can get through the folders it will most likely burn.

Hi Peter,
I can pinpoint one of your major problems.

"Btw, my specs are Core 2 Duo, 3.16 Ghz, 4GB ram, 8800GT 512MB video card, running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I am working with full HD MTS files from a Sony HD camera. "

Your computer is not powerful enough to cope with Full HD.

You've experienced crashing and such - that's when you're stressing your PC.

Please take a look at some of the cameras and cross reference the info to the spec of the editors PC's data as a guide to you.

Have you seen this, please add your spec?

Thanks

You'll get significant improvement just by improving your graphics card.

I would also suggest you save your project using the File > Save Project as, option and do do
1. VERY regularly
2. To a NEW pds file each time
3. Save your pds' in named numerical order.

By saving you have a back up.

I suggest you clear your ram memory as high end HD editing is "ram hungry" and you do this by shutting PD down. This will help you with stability as well.

I'm offering you a work around to help your PC cope with the stress you are putting it under. I must point out, the fault lies with your set up more than the software itself in this instance.

Are you editing 1080p or 1080i?
Are you editing footage which has been recorded at 60 fields or frames per second?

You questioned my opinion, fair enough. Who am I to know about computers and video editing HD footage? My system doesn't crash, my system doesn't have problems. I've used PD with a core duo and a 256mb set up and I've stressed that system with HD footage. Who am I to know? There are editors on here who had a core duo set up with a 512mb card who wouldn't dream of editing 1080 footage on large projects and who improved their whole display by adding a 1 gb card with hardware acceleration. what do I know?

You need to take your problem to tech support:

Looks to me your system cant cope with the task you've asked of it - some effect or additional edit you've added.

Bottom line: My system works, yours falls over.
