Good knows that I had my fair share of trouble getting PowerDirector to work on Windows 7. I had a lengthy dialogue with support, but we finally got the problem solved. However, because this was quite a frustrating experience, I decided to turn to another DVD authoring software provider and went to buy their product as part of a bundle.

How I regret I did that. PowerDirector is clearly superiour in features and has a user interface much more to my liking. For my use, it fits the bill quite nicely. I am now back with CyberLink and I am quite confident that I'll stick to it until superior powers force me to go elsewhere.

You've made a great product, Cyberlink, and you provide good community forums. My only trouble is that support was not that technically savvy, however, the solution provided in the end was indeed very satisfying to me as a customer.

Keep up the good work!

Glad to hear it all worked out and you are back. It never hurts to try out other options. It's a testament to PowerDirector that you did and like it better. I tried at least four before I found PD and I have never looked back. __________________________________

By all means. I found that as you get beyond the most basic video editing, you really start to appreciate PowerDirector. There's a learning curve, but it's not that bad, and it's an immensely powerful tool. These days, I use PD to do quite advanced video authoring as well as simple video conversions. It handles both ends of the complexity spectrum quite well. If you can keep up with the competition, this is definetely the tool for me. Now, I only wish there's some easy way to import projects from other (competing) applications as well as export to them as well, but, ah well, if only summer was always here...

Jan,

i did too regret about wasting my $$$ on a Adobe PE 7.0.

Cyberlink is the way to go!

By the way, care to share about your found solutions? It will help the new commers with similar problems. Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted... but to weigh and consider.

Sure. It's posted in the PD6&7 forum under the heading "How to upgrade HP Desktop PC with PD7 to Windows 7 and get PD to work".

I am curious how you got Cyberlink tech support to help you.
All I get out of them is paragraphs from the manual.

Also I am waiting for more than a week now for a repsonse.
PD is ok, but tech support..........not so good.

That's pure deja-vu to me, unfortunately. However, they did in fact and in the end provide help - probably motivated by a somewhat negative tone in my replies to their obviously pretty standard responses...

mtrapp,

I am learning that TS is only good for the common answers to common problems. I am also learning that for more complicated problems, the help from the users on this Forum, is of more use.

My questiones are getting more advanced so TS answers are turning more into the excerpts from the manual, as you fairly noticed.

Read not to contradict and confute, nor to believe and take for granted... but to weigh and consider.

Yup. Same here. I had quite a lenghty dialogue with technical support, but I do wish to stress that they did provide very helpful tips and tricks. My solution to this (as it turned out) difficult problem is a combination of help from HP forums, Google searches (another online forum), Cyberlink forums and Cyberlink support. Couldn't have done it without them.

Compared to other customer support groups, I'd say they did well, except some of the answers did not quite demonstrate a good understanding of the issues involved. I'd say give the guys a break, they're probably not THAT technically savvy and, given some guidance, they were quite helpful.
