PowerDVD 18 Ultra v 18.0.1815.62
WIndows 10
With every MP4 file I play, the following occurs:
- At playback time of 6 seconds, it skips what appears to be the 7th second of music, then continues
- If I then pause, restart from the beginning, it plays perfectly with no skip
- If I stop the play back and restart, it skips at the same place
This is amazingly consistent, with every MP4 file and at exactly the same playbasck point.

The same MP4 files played with Windows Media Player, VLC, MusicBee, Foobar all play perfectly.
PowerDVD plays WAV and MP3 files perfectly.
Also, while the Equalizer is availalable for all other file types, it is not for MP4 files.
Any helpmuch appreciated!

Thanks, that makes clear the change was by design but respectfully to the design team, it seems narrowly focused and rigidly implemented. Relative to playing audio, there will frequenlty be no image to display and since both UI modes now exist, we might have hoped this would be a choice via the settings.
The library option does not work for me as it does not arrange in a hierarchy by source folder and requires extensive loading time.
My alternative is to enable PDVD as the default music player, load it, then use the native Windows File Explorer as my select and play platform. Given the cost and sophistication of PDVD, seems odd I would have to resort to this but it works.
Thanks again for your response!

PowerDVD 18 Ultra v 18.0.1815.62
I have ripped my CDs to a local disk drive which I access with PDVD where on disk, the tunes are in a folder hierarchy by artist, by CD. I prefer playing a single track at a time, within and among different artists so within PDVD, I navigate among the folders to select the next tune I want to hear.
I may be wrong about this but I seem to recall that in earlier versions of PDVD, once a song was selected for playing, the folder list of tunes would remain displayed so you could be viewing other tunes to select while the current tune continued to play.
Now when a song is played, the song list disappears and is replaced by the playing song title, artist and a square grey box in the center of the screen that contains a graphic of 2 music notes. If you return to the song list, the current song stops playing.
Have I missed something in the UI options and if not, is there some way to persist the song list while a given song is playing?
Thanks!

Are your DAC applied with a ASIO driver? powerdvd does not work well with ASIO so far.
Try a WDM one.
It does not have as proprietary driver. It provides WASAPI functionality using a native Windows USB driver.
I did some further testing tonight with a different interface, and updated my original post, so please re-read.
Thanks!

PowerDVD 18
Surface Pro 3
WIndows10
I'm trying to use PowerDVD to play WAV and MP4 files both from a local drive and streamed from YouTube.
Audio output is to a home stereo system, where I have tried 2 interfaces:
(1) NAD USB DAC 2 wireless audio interface (WASAPI functionality using a native Windows USB driver)
https://nadelectronics.com/product/dac-2/
(2) Standard stereo 3.5 mm line out from computer audio jack to set of self-powered speakers
When using PowerDVD, the song starts and after ~ 4 seconds, it skips 2-3 times in quick sucession. then it is fine for the rest of the song. If I immediately replay the song, it does not skip.
When any content is played with the same external interfaces, using other music players i.e. Window Media player, VLC, MusicBee, there are no problems.
When I repeat the same test with PowerDVD and change the output device to the lcoal computer speakers, it does not skip.
So all content played on other music software does not skip with either external or internal output.
PowerDVD works wihtout skipping when output only to the internal computer speakers.
Any help much appreciated!
