My experience on this board is when you post something not in line with what is expected by the forum mods
The topic is closed, without further explanation.
That way..were not talking democraty..but dictatorship.
Casting upon us by so called forum admin .
Are you willing to swallow that?

Well, doesn't that prove a point.
Tony & Dafydd thanks for your support.
Robert
Point is that you are weak..not even able to give a decent response in a post.
Good luck with that..you're going to need it.
|
|
Well..I disagree with all of you whining about my approach.
If posters tell a bunch of crap I will tell them they do just that.
and..yes..I use my own words to say it..what's wrong with that?
What's wrong with you American pussies?
Here in Holland we say as it is without any filters.
I'm getting sick an tired with people trying to tell me where it's add.
who the h×÷%l are you to tell me how to post?
I'm a free man,and I speak from the hart.
Enough of this kind of lecture towards me from anyone here
on the board..if you find me offensive enough to ban me from
this board..then just do so.
I don't really care,because it's just a self selected few posters
who try to make everyone believe they know it all.
Sorry to disappoint you..you're far from that.
In the real editors world P.D whatever means nothing.
The reason why people pay attention to it is just because of it's so
called use of the graphicscard..which is flawed in any way.
I have little or no respect for anyone here on this board.
Because I figure you to be ignorant egois'ts in every way
you know little or nothing about editing in some professional way.
And you don't even know about that.
Got it?
Sorry..if you consider this to be of topic.
But I would appreciate you(administrator) to leave my comment
without whiping it,for all to see.
That would be a real mans action.

Hi John
I wont comment on your machine as that is not my field, but when it comes to editing 4K, and most here will agree, I'm sure, no matter how good your hardware it will be a bit of a uphill struggle because of the high bitrates involved.
Robert
B.S...It's all about hardware and graphicscard.
Try a 980TI and your probs are gone.
C'mon..shady one where have you been?
Maybe..for you it's time to reconsider your so called expertise on these matters.
Because.. it's crap.

Nice info, but why should any user of PD be interested in experience
at all,it just tells you your system specs you already know.
Apart from that one can turn things on and off.
It never did anything to help vid editors in any way.
For gamers it might be a different story.
But...check out the zillion of complaints about those wonderful
endless new drivers on the Nvidia forums for gamers and you
see it's a mess for them as well.
Best move for vid editors is to avoid anything geforce experience
like the plague.
If you really want to update graphics driver one can do it through
device manager..right?
Anyway...thanks for the heads up.

Also, I am finding that when I render anything to 30p, it appears as though the output is actually 15 fps, because it is very choppy.
I had the same prob with files rendered at 25 fps playing back choppy while properties showed the correct 25 fps in potplayer.
I solved the prob by setting the mode from quality to speed within the codec settings..h264 avc.
Now rendered files playback at the correct speed,no more stutter.
Don't ask me why this strange behavior occurs, but changing from quality to speed setting cured the prob.
So I suggest you try it.

Hi, Shadowman(Robert) and CS.
A recent camera purchase, a Canon Legria HF-R506 model, shoots in either AVCHD or MP4(user's choice), I've set mine to shoot in MP4. Yes, importation of the clips to PD(8 or 14) creates shadow files, but I've found them not to hamper my editing, even when the shadow files haven't yet fully generated(turned green). Upon completion of editing, my final render is to MPEG2. I stick with this file type as it's "familiar territory". My last major shoot-and-edit project was a trip to a tramway museum in the outer-southern-Sydney suburb of Loftus in January of this year. That's not going to mean anything to our American friends but Australians on this site, particularly those in NSW, will know the place I'm talking about. In England, there's a similar tramway museum in Crich(probably much bigger than that at Loftus). I shot over an hour's worth of material and it came together quite nicely. Edited in PD14 from MP4 files and rendered to MPEG2. As I edited some of the shadow files had fully generated, some had not, but it didn't stop me or slow down my editing.. I still have the MP4 raw video should I want to create a newer edit at some future stage(I often do re-edits, always working on improving things, bits that made it in to an earlier edit that should've been left out, bits that missed out on the earlier edit that should've been included... you know the drill).
Cheers!
Neil.
Neil...
As many others already told you, convert to myuv or cineform avi first, then edit.
What part of that you failed to understand?
All other (raw)cam files are just a bad idea to work with, including mpg2...also compressed crap.
If you think those avi files are to large, just buy a decent solid state scratch drive and work from that.
Invest in a Samsung 850 pro as I did and you'll have a blistering fast workflow.
Good luck.
|
|
Well..I figured it might be a good idea for everyone here to post his/her personal favorite workflow,so every newbie
searching for a guaranteed way to get some end result for their projects could be in grasp for them.
I start of with mine..
I have the sony AX-100 and the gopro black 3+ and 4...4K cams.
The original 4K files from those cams can be converted with Gopro studio to Cineform Avi files.
Those files I then bring into Resolve for grading basiccaly.
From resolve I export the file to the same High quality Avi file and bring it into P.D14 for the final output in the
dilivery H264/65 codec with the advantage of being able to use H.W fast coding.
I don't use any effects in P.D because if I would H.W encoding on the graphicscard would be disabled per default.
P.D doesn't work with H.W accelerated effects so everything is ported to C.P.U for processing.
So forget about anything grading..stabelising or whatever in P.D using the graphicscard..won't work
All that should be done before in other editors like resolve before bringing the file into p.D.
Once you have the completed file..cut..pasted..graded..effects into a high quality AVI file from Resolve,
bring it into P.D14 and use H.W acceleration to convert to your preferred delivery output file.
I know this works through trial and error and it gives me a superb final output result in h264./265.
So..here's my fav and working workflow.
I hope more peeps will post their fav workflows as well.
That way..we can all learn from eachother and try to get the best out of all.
Thank you..for reading.

With all respect paul..
When will you realize that your constant posts about nvidia's driver updates mean nothing?
Those are meant for the latests gamers only and are often inferior, check nvidia's site.
Those drivers will do nothing for your P.D experience..ever.

Being on line for 15 years now and buying software in that period I'm very disapointed with it all.
I spend a crazy amount of money for audio/video software as a tool just to make it work.
But you know..I just bought myself into an endless swamp of promising shite.
Nothing ever seems to work as intended..no matter what you pay for it.
In the case of C.L you pay little money compared to so called Pro editors like Resolve..Avid. and the like.
But they all..you know..it's all the same piece of shite...nothing delivers what I want ...nothing.
And I'm getting so tired of it all..so tired.
So..I'm getting to the place where love never fits, and just call it quits.
I'm an old man..a hippie from the 60's.
I've seen another world..another time ..with true music.
Sorry..for all this..I just could not help to speak out.
Please..if there are peeps of my generation able to understand.
Let me heare about it.
Thanks.

Jan, let's not make this thread a personal attack thread, K? You both said your piece and as the OP I don't want people to stop reading the thread (which they will if this becomes a back and forth ad hominem thread.)
O.k..I'll back off..have it your way.
But I refuse to get humiliated by some moron who thinks he kmows it all..telling me where it's add.
never settle for that..but I'll respect your post from now on.
I say no more.

Why no answer Barry? eh?

There is no need to ban you, in my opinion, but if you just keep your filthy language at the bar room, I for one would appreciate it.
so..because what I said I'm FILTH..DIRTH. just I told peeps my thoughts?
You're a thousant times worse then me..got it?
I know your kind ..you can find them on nearly every board.
Self imposed wonderful peeps who know it all and in some position to cast one out.
You think about who you're speaking to ignorant ten for a penny joker.
Doc..You're right they need to remove those claims.. but ofcourse they won't.
Instead you are presented stories..good luck with that.

Well, I got a response from Cyberlink. They said we can reproduce that problem here on several platforms. You should contact nVidia, because that sounds like a problem on their side.
So - my card works with everything else, worked with PD12, PD13, and will not work with PD14 (same card, same drivers that work with PD 13) and that's an nVidia problem???
No..it's not..probably not..
It's what they always tell you in most softwares..it's old crap.
It's also true nvidia ***** up with many new drivers but most issues are connected to the gaming peeps.
Not the ones using those drivers just for video editing.
It's not nvidia's fault most softwares are way behind hardware developements.
It's not Nvidia's fault Vegas still use codecs from 2010 without H.W acceleration..rendering them useless today.
It's not Nvidia's fault software developers are to lazy and retarded to keep up with hardware developements.
It's all about your money and cashing in..for the rest they don't really care.
Eventually..they give you some update/grade making you pay more for what originally should have been there.
And those upgrades/dates often mess up other things working before.
The software developers of any kind make easy money..a LOT of money..don't mistake.
In the case of Cyberlink they grab hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars for their wonderful software.
And if one complaines it's not working as advertised it's always someone else it's fault..never theirs.
So..welcome to the machine.
Another example...
I have a professional video/audio studio with softwares worth many thousants of dollars/euro's.
Not to speak about the hardware running it all ..computers..servers..all in all some 50.000 dollars to make it work.
Not to speak about Cam's and equipment and personel to make use of it all.
And you know..when using the softwares involved I always get the reply you got when something's not working.
It's not anything to do with us check your hardware drivers.
And so it goes on and on and on until the point you puke it all out.
Another example...
When you buy as I did a lot of hardware synthesizers you get a warranty for years to make sure you get what you're paid for.
No updates/grades nessessary..you get what you paid for..and it will work for years to come.
Now..believe me..this consideration about all this is wotrh a lot to me..initiated by the O.P with his thoughts about it all.
I think he's right about his disthrust about Cyberlink responses in general.
I know my comment on this might be over the top for many of you..even the O.P...but so what..I just felt like
to speak from the hart and the way I feel about it all.
If you don't like it..well just ban me from the board and excuse me for being alive.

Sorry Opto..
The point is that one can skip the shite in P.D and just do all that in G.Pstudio.
I'ts just like some player that does'nt play a file.
Just use another that can.
|
|
Hi..Al.
You mean difference between P.D and G.P studio I suppose?
I can't see any between them,as I can't see any difference in quality between magicyuv and cineform avi..apart from file size.
We have the exact same workflow being the best of both editors,G.P studio is really powerfull and underestimated by many.
So..I have no plans to change this way of working,it suits me just fine.

Yes GoPro clips. A little dissipointed because one of the reasons I upgraded is because PD 14 was advertized as now being able to support those higher frame rates....
Does anybody know why you would produce to a higher frame rate then the original source clips were?
I use GoPro Studio (free) to trim my clips (I keep about 10% of what I shoot) and I use higer frame rate settings whenever I think I might want to SloMo. GPStudio first converts all clips to CineformAVI which is an intermediate codec and is better for editing than the GoPro compressed Mp4 clips and does a great job on SloMo. I also use GPStudio for color correction. Once you have the desired result save the clip at your planned PDR14 project frame rate (30p or 60p) as an AVI and import into PDR14 and contine editing. It sounds a bit drawn out but it's actually quick and easy. Enjoy!
Al
Al..thats the way to do it.
Opto..I never tried that way..so thx for the info.

PD14 claims to support action camera frame rates up to 120, but when i go to set my frame rate in Preferences the max available is 60 fps.
What am I missing?
Thanks
You're missing nothing,P.D just can't do it..I tried the same thing..120fps 10.80p gopro to 30fps output gives me the same playback speed
but without slomo,I suggest to use gopro studio for that, gives you excellent slomo.
You won't see it in the timeline though, only after render, but I guess you know that.

I really don't get it.
What do you want?
Mpg4 files are rendered in P.D12 and14 the same way and they're both good.
Maybe..you should not try to upload those files to youtube..since it's a delivery format.
The tube then has it's own conversion, which can mess up things.
Your post started with the stuttering thing..then evolved to the pixellation thing.
Both were addressed but no real answer to them.
Every time it's pointing to something different.
Are you for real?
|
|
Heya Traveller..
Try this youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoEqeH9ANH8
This is a magicyuv file rendered in P.D14 with WMV 4k profile and see if there's any pixelation.
If so..there must be something wrong at your end.
