Perfect! That worked!! Thanks for your help!!!

I saw this but it is not what I am looking for. The PhD method described is more of a blending which is not exactly what I am looking for. The Paint.net example is more in line with my target, however, I am having difficulty locating the "alpha blur" which is what was used in a tutorial I watched.
The project I am trying to create is 5 separate png images that fade to transparent (band members) and then I will layer those 5 images on a background for a promotional picture.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I could not locate a similar question in the forum and I am about to pull my hair out. Can someone point me in the right direction to learn how to produce a picture with faded edges (to transparent)? I want to layer this picture on top of another layer and have the picture fade to the background layer. I am using PhD 11.

I am at a loss, how do I size so my full image is posted on IG? I am shooting a normal vertical image size (2:3). I've exported several different sizes but the image still gets cropped in IG. Is there an optimal export resolution where the full image is displayed?

Here is my DxDiag. I hope this is what was needed. The PhD version is 11.0.2307.0 (64 bit) Ultra. SR PTD190903-01

Yes, I could have been bit more descriptive. By "crashing" I meant that while in the middle of my edit, the PhD window will disappear and within seconds my computer will show a screen saying that an error occurred and needs to restart. This has happened about a dozen times in the past 3 or 4 months and seems to happen after I've made a number of edits to image. It is possible that I had several other windows open such as streaming music or youtube while editing. I guess that could compound the issue I suppose. When I upgraded, I did pay for the back up disc so I may end up removing the program and reloading. Would this be recommended?

Anyone else experiencing crashes on Win 10 machines. I upgraded from PhD 8 to PhD 11 a few months ago. I had no issues with 8 but with 11, I have frequent crashes. Not sure what is causing. Thoughts?

That appears to have fixed it!!! Thanks.

Is it normal that PhD creates folders in Windows Explorer when I import pictures from other folders on my HD. I've been working on quite a few small projects with edits/layers and I noticed now I have a number of folders that were created and named as a date (06181. How should I maintain these folders if I want to continue updating the pictures at a later date. I am working on a band flyer/promo picture that I want to reuse and make changes with future dates.
I can't see having 100 extra folders hanging around with pictures that I already have.
If someone knows where I can read about how PhD creates these files, I would appreciate it.
thanks.

Worked like a charm!! Thanks!

Can someone point me in the right direction to learn the filing system that Photodirector uses? I've noticed that PhD is creating folders named as the date created "051218" and has the file of what was imported into PhD. Since I've worked on a number of pictures, I have quite a few of these folders which are expanding my folders in File Explorer.
When can I delete these folders? If I delete, do I lose the ability to go back into a project and change the layers? If so, what is a better organization method for these folders?

Trying to complete a time lapse using pictures. PowerDirector only allows to select PhD for one photo at a time. After I make the changes to the single picture, I select "back" and the corrected picture is place back in PD. I hoped there was something that I could click to apply the changes to all pictures so they look uniform. I don't see where that is an option. Am I missing something?
|
|
Thinking about it, that makes sense! I wasn't thinking from the concept of a database for the changes, my thought was I was making changes to the picture somehow without affecting the original. I use PowerDirector more frequently and it seems to follow the project saving concept I was applying to PhD. I was able to find my project a few minutes ago so I think all is good. Thank you very much!

I guess I am missing something. I want to be able to save a project that is not finished so I can start from that point at a later time. I would think there is a "save as" and "open project" that would allow me to select the desired project in the state that I left it. I've tried several times on my current project and everytime I open it, all I get is the original background and nothing else (layers previously added). What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the reply. I noticed in the finished video that the music played fine. Whatever it is, makes trying to time the edits with the music much more difficult when you can't hear it! I am going to try recording a couple more timelapses tomorrow from my office (close to the San Antonio Airport) and see if I have the same situation during editing.

trying to put together a timelapse video using GoPro footage and adding a track from a local band. I load the pictures (adjust to 30 fps) and music track and everything is great. In hopes to end the song at the same time the pictures end, I trim the song track at the end of the last picture on the timeline. So far so good. When I then play it back in the timeline to see how everything is looking, the music cuts off about 2 seconds early, even though I can see the music track in the timeline. I tried to reload the music a couple of times with the same result.
I decided to go ahead and produce the video just to see what would happen and the music and pictures went to the end just fine. Is this just a glitch where the music cuts off early in the editing process but works fine in the producing process?

I thought the WMV was my best bet, but it isnt giving the results I wanted. It is possible to have 16:9 in WMV, correct?

I am so lost. Trying to make a vacation movie. I have GoPro footage along with pictures from point and shoot cameras. I have made several attempts with the different producing settings (avi, wma, mpeg, etc.) and nothing seems to work right. The footage is either very jerky, blurry, or in a 4:3 format (after it looks 16:9 when producing) when uploaded to YouTube. What is the best setting for YT uploads? TIA.
