I ended up re-rendering my animation as an MP4 with a green background then applied a chroma key. That got me what I wanted!
Quote Check to see if you have Apple Quicktime installed on this pc. That would be necessary to import transparent mov files.

I reinstalled QuickTime and gave it another go. PowerDirector 19 still threw an Audio error, so I removed the audio portion of that clip. That allows the clip to play, but it doesn't honor the transparency, and instead makes the whole screen (minus the animation I'm trying to show) black until the clip ends.

I know the clip works fine as an animated overlay in DaVinci Resolve, but I've already edited a full project in PowerDirector 19 and would love to just be able to import this as a source and use it
I have a clip I created in DaVinci Resolve to use as a lower third with transparency. I exported it from another program with the following settings:

  • QuickTime

  • GoPro CineForm Codec

  • RGB 16-bit type - 1080p with an Alpha (Transparency), with Alpha Mode of Straight

The resulting file is a .MOV file.

When I pull the .MOV file into PowerDirector 19, put it in my timeline, and try to check the clip to see my transparent lower third, I get an error with the video clip.

Is there a Codec or plugin I can download for PowerDirector 19 so I can properly use this video file in my project?
I just went back and looked. The videos were saved using Hauppauge's new Hauppauge Capture application, and they were saved in MPEG-2 TS Video files.

I tried just editing one of the files that was giving me lock up problems all by itself. It still gives me the exact same problem. I can't trim it down.
Thank you for responding!

I was watching the produced video when I first noticed the discrepancy. That's when I started trying to dig.

I'm assuming the issue is related to me using the same 4 video clips over and over again, trimming down to only what I need. I wouldn't have expected it to cause any issues. I'm 90% sure all the clips are the same type - recorded footage from a Hauppauge HD PVR2. Maybe the intro clip I'm using is set to a different frame rate or something.

My PC is a beast - i7 4771 3.5 Ghz quad core Haswell with 32 GB RAM on Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

I'll verify that all clips are the same type. Apart from that, I'm considering actual making 15 small video files and just dropping them in.

Thanks!
I have everything fully edited for a video I'm creating. It 10-15 instances of 4-5 videos trimmed at different intervals. Part of the video that shows up just fine in the editor gets completely skipped and a frozen chunk of another video is locked over top of it. What could cause this? Is there a known solution? I'm on a deadline here. Please help!
I recant. Finally figured out how to get and apply the patch. Appears to be working now. I apologize for the frustration.
I bought PowerDirector 12 Deluxe. I had the basic version of PD11 and it wouldn't let me download it again.

The trial of PD12 runs in 64-bit, but I can't find where the install download (1_CyberLink_PowerDirector12_Deluxe_VDE131210-01.exe) lets me install 64-bit. The production version of PD12 for me doesn't work - blows up every time I try to open it. The trial software will work but I'm missing all the features I paid for and that big ugly POWERDIRECTOR TRIAL overlay on my finished product. What am I missing?

*Edit* - Tried reinstalling the version I was given as a link from CyberLink. It still blows sky high on the load. It gives me a link in there to get an update for the software, but then it sends me to the downloader for the TRIAL software again!!

*Edit* - Is there a way to put my Product Key into the trial software so it unlocks everything?
