I can select the graphic card that I want when I startPD14.

My question is how PD14 manages the rendering format available for the intel quick sync encoder.

Not all resolution are available for intel quick sync. Why ?Is it in regedit or in some .Dll ?
Im also interesting to know the best capture option for VHS.

The capture format I currently use is AVI in PD14.

It creates very big file. Can you confirm it is the best option for archives ?
Hi everybody

Do you know how the system selects the resolution and compression that are available for Intel Quick Sync option ?

Thank you
Dear Michael

The question is what are you currently doing with PE and what do you expect and intend to do with PD14 ?

Are you interest in particular features ? (4k, fast rendering, action cam....)

I consider that you will find good added value if you update to director suite with color director and audio director.
Can you confirm we only need to install the last update or shall we have to install each update one by one ? Does the last update include all previous update?
Thank you Tony for your tutorial.

Quote: If you do not follow the steps from my previous post, you don't have this option.

The goal of the steps is to active this option.

Richmand Dan has a desktop (signature), following these steps will not enable laptop switchable graphic features. If he wants to switch between his Intel HD4600 and his Nvidia 720 for PD editing he would have to do it manually, i.e. cable switch or HDMI switch box or the like.

Jeff

Sorry Dan, it has and it will enable laptop switchable graphics features.

The issue is actually the restriction of the software NVIDIA Control Panel but not PowerDirector issue. We (CyberLink) made a workaround to avoid the restriction but there might be side effect of issues.

It is suggested that you back up the original modules before they are replaced by the provided workaround module.

For Intel/NVIDIA hybrid GPU platforms, there is a mechanism in the NVIDIA Control Panel to manage which third party software is allowed to use dGPU. The mechanism is managed by NVIDIA, not by CyberLink. CyberLink PowerDirector supports NVIDIA GPU, based on NVIDIA's specification, when there is no restriction. There is a workaround solution to let this kind of hybrid platform use the dGPU, but results in side effects for specific platform with specific VGA drivers. The resulting side effect is the preview window becomes a black screen during previewing when hardware decoding is enabled. The issue cannot be resolved from the software side.

To implement the workaround, please follow the steps below:

1. Go to PowerDirector installation folder. Find the 2 files "PDR.exe" and "PDR.exe.manifest" and rename them to
"PDR14.exe" and "PDR14.exe.manifest".
2. Download the file "GpuUtility.dll" and copy the file to the path C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector14\CESdlls\
32bit: http://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/cs/tool/GpuUtility/32bit/GpuUtility.dll
64bit: http://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/cs/tool/GpuUtility/64bit/GpuUtility.dll
3. Download the files "GpuUtilityEx_ENABLE_VGA.exe" and "GpuUtilityEx_ENABLE_VGA.exe.manifest" and copy the
files to the path C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector14
[GpuUtilityEx_ENABLE_VGA.exe]
32bit: http://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/cs/tool/Gpu...it/GpuUtilityEx_ENABLE_VGA.exe
64bit: http://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/cs/tool/Gpu...it/GpuUtilityEx_ENABLE_VGA.exe

64bit: http://download.cyberlink.com/ftpdload/cs/tool/Gpu...lityEx_ENABLE_VGA.exe.manifest
4. Reboot your computer.
5. After rebooting, right click on PDR14.exe and choose the option to run the software by NVIDIA GPU.

It is suggested that you back up the original modules before they are replaced by the provided workaround module.

HI Mate,

I guess I can try this again, but tried that, it worked - And I could choose Nvidi GPU, but Power Director would just crash over and over...

And what do you mean by back up original modules??

Thank you for you confirmation.

If PD14 crashes you can remove Geforce.

So far, you do not need to remove Geforce if you install with last nvidia driver.

When you start PD14 be sure that it use nvidia. Right click on the start icon and select the nvidia card.

Thank you Tony and Barry
Just put nvidia in search tab, there is a lot of post on nvidia use with PD14

I have to set power director to use nvidia 970. Check other post on this forum
I might add that there are FX that clean up old video, just like the in-house fixers"

Barry,

Where is this effect you are talking about ? Is it newblue ?

Stéphane
I have the same configuration. It works like a charm.
Yes you can without any trouble.
Some test with nvidia has been performed in the below topic with

Does this problem has been solved ?

Tony

Could you please explain how to divide the screen with diagonal shape (1:3 ?

Thank you for this information. I will try it.
