Hello again Paul,
Thank you for your positive feedback about our forum
With help from my friends at CL, I've resolved my PhD8 activation issue.
Here, as with other versions of PhD8, the capture date displayed under the Metadata tab is accurate. i.e. it's the same as the capture date shown in EXIF tool, Windows Properties, Lightroom & various other apps.
Unfortunately, that does not explain (or give any clues about) what might be happening with your PhD8.
Could you please download this photo & import it into PhD8. Capture date should display as 2019/05/18. In Windows Properties it's listed as "Date Taken".
PIX
Hi Pix.
Again many thanks for this.
The photo you provided does indeed work as mine did previously (ie it imports/displays them in a folder and with a file name displaying the capture date). I hope my limited knowledge/ability hasn't confused matters. However just to re-iterate my latest downloads from my camera when I import them in to PD8 appear in a folder with the date I transferred them from my camera and part of the file name is also the date of transfer not the capture date. EXIF does shows the correct capture date. Photos taken by myself and my wife on our phones correctly display the date captured. It is only my latest download from my Nikon camera that has thrown up this situation
I have managed a workaround for now so I can get on with the ones I've taken during a short break we took last week.
In the meantime I'm checking my camera and Nikon Transfer settings in case I've changed something in them. I'll let you know if I solve it as it may help others if I do.
Best wishes
Paul

I only have PhD6, 7 and 365 (v12) installed so I can't test PhD8 either, but after checking/updating to the final version maybe you can check to make sure you've got the correct date type selected.
Here's a screenshot of 5 newly imported images from my Pixel 5 phone and they all show the correct Capture Date:
Maybe yours somehow changed to Modified Date?
Thanks for this. The list as above and the EXIF display the correct date. When I import the pics the folder and photo show the date I transferred them to my computer. For example a photo taken on 20210518 is correct in the EXIF and in the listing you recommended to check. However when imported the pic has the date it was downloaded to the computer (i.e 20210520). Thankfully I have found a workaround..

Hi everyone and many thanks for your contributions.
PIX. Sadly I don't have an answer for your PhD8 problem. I have changed my computer once and the new one accepted my product key without a problem.
optodata. It was only the photos from my camera(s) that were affected. Like yours my phone pics worked ok.
thetrueindians.
After posting my question I went back to processing my photos. I then went into Photo Export as normal. Before saving my pic I decided to check settings in there. In the section Naming and under Format I clicked each option to see what they did.
Under the Name - Date I saw that the example included both dates (date taken and date uploaded to computer). Makes life much easier as all I have to do is delete the date I don't want.
Hope that helps others.
I'm a silver surfer and recently contacted the Fitbit Community. I have to say the Cyberlink Community is far superior which is a credit to all you users out there.
Best wishes and stay safe everyone.

I'm using Photodirector 8. When I imported photos previously the date I took the photo was included in the import. I've checked the EXIF and that does still show the actual capture date. After returning from a short break (17 to 20 May) I imported my photos (20 May). However when I open them in PD8 now these files ignore the EXIF info and all read the date I've transferred them (ie 20 May). Just wondered if anyone can suggest how I might remedy this as I use the date as part of my file data and its a pain having to alter the date especially when the photos are taken over a number of days. Many thanks. Paul

I've just purchased a new computer and I'm now on Windows 10 (previously using Windows 7). I've managed to install my Photodirector 8 and it appears to be working ok. However there are a couple of problems I've encountered with it.
The first one is I can't seem to save the IPTC information as I was able to do before. I have created a profile name but was not asked for any information when doing that. I can't remember if I had to provide it for the profile on my old computer or if it picked it up and saved the info when I exported a pic. On the old computer it came up for every photo I imported from my Nikon camera(s) so it's a little inconvenient to have to type it in each time.
The second problem is that when I close PHD8 down it seems to revert to some sort of default settings. On my old computer if I selected a specific file to save a photo to it kept that setting every time I opened the programme up. As an example I normally save to a file called "Watermarked". I take a variety of photographs and by doing it this way I can distribute to different files at my leisure and I don't have to keep changing the target file every time I saved a photo. Every time I open the programme now it has reverted to saving to "my photos".
I hope the above makes sense and that someone might be kind enough to help this "silver surfer". I'm pretty sure I've missed something or not done something right.
Many thanks.

I'm using PD8.
When I now open the programme and select import photos the programme now opens "Local Disk C - Programme files - Cyberlink - PhotoDirector 8.
Up till yesterday it had always gone straight to "My Pictures". Have I changed a setting or something? If so how do I correct this please?
Many thanks

Thanks stevek for your prompt response.
I noticed that the icon on the desktop of my computer screen showed some content and opened the programme to see what it was. No disc is in the computer at this stage so it seems to me that the used space referred to is in the programme itself. I do not know what the used space is or how to delete it as nothing is showing in the box other than the message to drag files in etc.
You refer to looking at the content in windows. How do I do that please.

When I open the data disc dvd page to start a compilation on the above programme there appears to be used space of 18.29MB already there although there is nothing showing in the area where you get the message "start adding your data files to the disc by dragging etc".
Is this normal? If not how do I access this used space to clear it please.

Sorted (I think).
Noticed that problem didn't happen if I was lowering the resolution to get down to the 5MB max I was looking for. Checked the export settings and I had the "do not increase the resolution" box ticked.
Not sure how that got selected as it has only started happening in last couple of days however I do have a grandchild who loves to press keys on the keyboard...................................... JESSICA lol.

Hi
I want save some of my pics to max 5MB to save space and to use on Twitter etc.
I'm doing this by setting the long edge to 8 and then changing the number of pixels to give me the size I want (I aim for between 4.95 and 5.00MB).
In the last couple of days for some reason I have only been able to save certain pics once. If I then change the resolution up or down to get to my target figure the pic will not export. I get a box saying it's preparing the pic but nothing happens. No export box appears at the top right of the screen as it normally does.
If I move on to the next picture it may work perfectly even if I have to change the settings. Any pics that won't re export will not do so even if I return to them after exporting/re exporting others.
I've tried shutting the programme down and re starting it but the problem persists - once a picture refuses to export I cannot get it to do so even though it worked the first time I exported it.
Only recently updated to PD8 from PD5 and never had a problem with this method of exporting.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Papa D

Many thanks PIX that was spot on and very much appreciated. Don't think I'd have spotted that myself.

In the last couple of days my pictures have started "whiting out" when I use the Radius slider in the Sharpness section of PhD5. This means that I am unable to monitor any adjustment I am making in this section. The picture re-appears a few seconds after I release the slider. The problem does not appear to happen with any other sliders/adjustments. Any advice greatly appreciated. I am using Windows 7. Many thanks.

Many thanks for this PIX. I think you are right about a forum member being a possible source for this. I had used PHD3 and 4 before and seem to recall a section where you could download fonts etc. When I purchased PHD5 I think it carried the font forward. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of it but I've had a look at the above sites and there is plenty to choose from. My next task is to work out how to add a font. Best way to learn I think is to try but hope I can come back to the Forum if I get stuck lol. Once again though, many thanks for your help. Best wishes. papad

I've had to have a new hard drive on my computer and it has meant that I have had to re-install PHD5. Previously I had a font I liked which I seem to think I downloaded from a Cyberlink page. The font is not on the re-installed copy and I can't find a link to downloadable fonts in Forums etc. Can't find anything in help either. Any help and advice as to how I might add fonts to the standard list would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. PapaD.

Hi Pix.
Many thanks for your reply. I don't think I've explained it very well so I'll try again and please forgive me for trying to keep it as simple as possible this time which is as much for my benefit and in no way reflects on anyone trying to help me.
When I imported a photo to PD5 the original stayed in my source folder in my pictures.
Once I had finished and saved the edited one I would go to my source folder and delete the original. When I did that and returned to PD5 a box would appear asking me if I wanted to delete the picture from the computer or library.
Now when I import to PD5, the original stays in the source folder but PD5 opens (it's own) unique folder in my pictures with the imported pictures in. I now have the original photo in the source folder and a copy of the original in a unique folder produced by PD5.
After saving the edited one I have 3 pictures altogether.
If I try to delete the one in the original source folder now I can't do so as I get a report saying it's still open in PD5. I have to remember to delete the copy picture from the folder PD5 produces and then I can delete the one in the original (source) folder.
Simply put how do I stop PD5 producing it's own folder/copy of imported pics please. Hope that makes sense

Hi
Since my previous message I've discovered that the problem is due to PD5 creating a copy of the pic in a seperate file in my pictures on the computer.
I'm sure this is happening because I've altered a setting on PD5 (I remember a pop up asking if I wanted another copy of a pic saving but I can't remember what I was doing at the time).
Previous to this I just had the original picture and once I'd processed and exported this to the file of my choice I could delete the original and a pop up appeared on the photo in PD5 asking if I wanted to delete it.
I'm just trying to find out how I can stop PD5 creating a duplicate of the pictures every time I import please. If it helps the file names are made up of the dates the photos were taken.
Many thanks
A grateful novice
