Hi Sonic,
Thanks for your help/suggestion. Sorry, yes this was a step they asked me to check as well...I did have a question that I sent to the tech but he never answered. This is what the last three lines of my hosts file has...I didn't know if this is correct or not, Wasn't sure about the "cap" prefix and also that first line is crammed all together just like that on one line. Is that normal or correct?

So, I've had a tech working on this issue, and after multiple idea's there is still no solution to the problem. The fact that he has stepped me through so many different things to try tells me they don't know what's going on with this activation issue either.
So far I have: installed, reinstalled, and reinstalled again. I conducted my installs exactly as one should, disabling firewall, antivirus, etc. I also disabled (per instruction from tech) the UAC. I then "reset my router" (per instruction), disabled antivirus, firewall, UAC, reconnected internet, right-clicked (run as admin), and that didn't work. Then I was instructed after that failed attempt, to try with no internet connection, of course that didn't work.
I noticed last night that when I try to use the new cloud feature, I get a similar message concerning lack of communication with the Cyberlink servers (I have included that screenshot), which seems to be the similar problem with the activation issue. It feels like there is a blocked out-bound communication with Cyberlink, but I have disabled the firewall, so...??? But on that same note, I can register the program just fine and did so with no issues, via internet.
I will keep everyone abreast of the situation and if they come up with something that works I will definitely share in case there is anyone else having this problem. In the meantime if anyone has any other ideas for me to try, please share. I'll try anything at this point.
Thanks again in advance,
Tazz

Oh I got it. I just assumed the 30 day count down was for a trial period. Well hopefully they get it taken care of sooner than later.
I do thank you for taking the time to help me with this. I definitely took your advice and placed a service ticket.

Oh also Carl,
I did turn my firewall off and disabled my anti-virus program when I installed, and have tried it while launching just to see if it's blocking the connection somehow, but that doesn't make a difference. And, well obviously I have internet connection just fine, as I am communicating with you on it haha.

Hi Carl...
Just to give you a little history. I had been working with PD 11 Ultimate and upgraded to PD 13 Ultimate, outright. I didn't even bother with the trial. I purchased the upgrade from Cyberlink directly, downloaded it, and installed it. I did have the install key (cd key) from my email sent to me from Cyberlink that I entered upon install, and it gave me the confirmation/success of install, or to some wording along those lines. So up to that point everything was superb, smooth, no problems. But upon launching the program I get the (new screen shot attached) two boxes pop up that are in the screenshot. First the splash-screen logo comes on with the little animated graphic, then immediately the (lower box in screenshot) lighter colored box pops up with "Activating...." and then it changes to the error message immediately followed by the darker gray box popping up, letting me know that I only have, at this point, 28 days left. Yesterday this box said 29, and the first day it was 30, so I assumed it defaults me back to a trial mode, due to the program not able to activate. Once I click the ok buttons in both boxes, the program loads successfully and seems by all accounts to run perfectly. This is the third day now that I have had this problem and nothing seems to be working/changing. I can close the program and as soon as I launch it, it goes through this same error issue. It has me baffled. I understand that servers can be down and such, but for three days now. It just seems strange and I can't help but think something else is wrong.

Hi Carl,
No I was being funny, or trying to be. I paid 88.00 for the upgrade promo they had running, but due to the Activation error, i'm stuck using the trial...Like I say I hope they work it out before my trial runs out or I won't be able to use the program I actually paid for LOL.

Hi Playsound,
Thank you for your assistance in this matter...actually twice. Yours was one of the threads I originally read concerning this and I tried all the solutions you offered...none of which worked for me. But I still thank you because everything is worth a try.
It's very frustrating. I have used PowerDirector, as a loyal customer, for a number of years and LOVE it and have NEVER experienced any issues past the occasional (very rare) crashes/freezes. But this is the first time I have encountered an issue like this and after seeing so many other people with the same issue it just seems ridiculous, and builds more frustration, that it hasn't been fixed by now. It's kind of like a recall on an automobile that has a part malfunctioning on so many vehicles that they bring them all in for a repair...FIX IT ALREADY!!!
I am a very literal person...I pay you my money for a product and I expect to get 100% of the product in perfect working order, the flipside of that scenario would be that I paid for the product, and only 75% of my money went through the transaction and 25% is having issues in being received.
For now, as Carl has stated I will wait to see if it's their servers that are having issues...if so I have 28 days to use my $100 trial... *sheesh*
Thanks again,
Tazz

Carl,
Thank you for such a quick response. So I guess it's just a waiting game huh? Well as long as it is fixed within the 28 days of the trial i'm now running, I guess all will be ok. LOL
Thanks again.

Hello everyone...I found a couple of other issues such as mine on the forum but the solutions for them did not work for me, so I figured I would reach out to all of you team of experts in the hope that someone can assist me.
I have recently purchased the PowerDirector upgrade to 13 ultimate from 11 ultimate, and the installation process went smooth with no hiccups, until I launched the program for the first time and I got the dreaded activation error that I have seen so many others as having. I have attached the screen shot of the message, the DxDiag, and also the instructions from the Cyberlink Website that I did follow precisely, with of course the same outcome each time. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling etc. I have tried the compatibility attempt with no luck in every option (but there is no Windows 8.1 choice which i'm running. I clicked the small PD Icon in the top left of the program for the "about" info and my version is 13.0.2104.0 and tried the patch from the Cyberlink website that says it is for build 2104 which I thought I have, but it gave me an error message saying I had an incorrect version and the installation would end (in some sort of words).
So to say the least I am rather frustrated at this point.
If anyone can assist that would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you all in advance for your time and for any help you can offer.
