Thanks RobAC. First time updating Cyberlink product/s. I have to say I'm pretty pleased with PD11 overall. No other decent HD video editing trial program would even install &/or run on my PC, despite meeting system requirements.
Very happy !
Just downloaded PD11 update 3026. Nervous about what happens next. Is this a complete new install ? or does it install over my original "online authorised" PD11 & save all previous settings ? Before even doing this, I have to ask ;

1) will this require me to tear my studio apart & do another online authorisation for the update, & / or the new supported file types, &

2) are the newly supported video file types included in the update so I can just load one & have it authorise online, or do I need to go somewhere & download a video clip ?? Maybe they don't even need authorising ?

Would appreciate warnings in advance.
Cheers
I need to upgrade my newly purchased Power Director 10 Deluxe to PD10 Ultra to burn AVCHD / BluRay discs.
I bought PD10 Deluxe 3 weeks ago Order Number: 207264145 Order Date: 09/09/2012, for $90.00,
& it won't burn AVCHD / Blu Ray discs. Program says it requires an upgrade.
(why ?? it processes & exports HD formats so how much extra trouble is it burning them to disc ).

Now I see on the upgrades webpage PD 11 Ultra is $130.00 new, the only upgrade option.
Upgrading to PD 11 Ultra to burn avchd / blu ray is going to cost another $80.00
so total price in 3 weeks to burn a HD disc = $170.00.
PD10 Ultra was only approx $120 new from memory. It didn't cost $170.00 did it
I can't find anything on the website to upgrade PD10 Deluxe to PD10 Ultra.
Given the short time frame of 3 weeks do I qualify for a PDv10 Ultra, or a
more reasonably priced PDv11 Ultra upgrade, maybe the price difference of
around $40.00 - $50.00 ?
This has been normal upgrade practice with other media software companies I buy from.
(ie: no cracked software here) so I hope Cyberlink see this as a reasonable request.
Cheers
Thanks for your input Dafydd. Considering my options.
I think I want my money back
seriously
Hi Dafydd. Thanks for responding. This is not for the "Produce" or "Create Disc" functions, but for just loading a compatible HD MP4 file. Now I'm told that I'm going to have this problem again with other normal basic video production procedures !!!. How many other processes am I going to do in the future that require "extra activation" & for this software / computer to be online ?? It should just require a simple file transfer / install via offline. All software I use provides this option in my experience. Are Cyberlink saying that I've got to pull my recording / mastering studio apart, spend half a day sealing all the optical fibre connections from dust contamination (& risk the huge problems associated with that if anything gets in there), labelling cables, transporting the hardware to an online connection, buy & install all the AV software for a safe online connection, all for software I've already downloaded in full, paid for in full, & activated ??
There was no warning of this in the features & specs sections of the PD 10 info.
This seems "more" than unusual. I'm finding it a bit hard to believe this is happening, that separate "extra" activation for basic video production processes is even needed, & offline activation is not possible.
This is "at least" a full day of work lost, plus considerable additional expense, without due warning !!!!!!
There has to be someone there who can make this happen, surely !
I tried to load a video taken from my Olympus still camera MP4 HD 16:9
(I think this is called H.234 or similar file name)
A window popped up requesting activation for this file type, but I've already paid for &
activated the program (why did this happen ??). Then it mentioned something about 30 days to activate
this feature "online", but I've already paid for & activated the program.

N.B. I "NEVER" connect my media production computer systems to the internet.

Checked FAQ's & have tried the trial version to check system compatibility before purchase.
This issue appeared on the trial version, but it said the feature was included in the full retail version upon purchase &
activation. I figured at that point that PwrDrctr 10 did process HD MP4 files, but I'd have to trust that it
worked on purchase / activation.
No alternatives given for offline activation like all my other audio / media production software.
If there is a separate activation required for certain program features, how do I activate these feature/s
offline please ?

Work waiting on this, hope it gets sorted quickly !
