How do I move my stuff over to my new computer?

Hi all. I recently bought a new computer and I have no clue how to move my Powerdirector stuff over. HELP!

Hi,

The ease or difficulty of this depends on exactly what you mean by PowerDirector stuff!

Program files
Assuming you do not have the subscription version and do not have your original downloaded installation files but do have all the necessary proof of purchase etc. then you should contact customer services and they should be able to provide you with a new, time limited download location so that you can re-install on your new system.

Project files
Any of your project .pds files will have the locations and file names of the content used in that project, so just copying them over will not automatically work. When they are opened, they will not necessarily be able to find the video, image or audio files unless you can replicate the original filing system. You will have to manually browse to find them for each project.
If you pack each project before transfer to the new system, then that problem is avoided, and each project should open correctly.

Custom or downloaded files
Will not be re-installed with the program files and should be copied over to the correct locations in the new system.

Downloaded effects and plugins etc
Will have to be re-installed again as they were for the original system.
