My computer recently died (I van turn it on for short periods but it overheats)

So I bought a new computer.

On my original computer I have power director 12 upgraded to PD 16. I bought PD 12 at the store so my registration on my profile never kept the product code.

I went to install PD 16 on my new computer. It is an upgrade code. It asked me to install PD12.

So I went to install pd 12, but the code I have is apparently different for pd 16. So I have a program I purchased but can't install because the product code demands I install the previous version first.

So I am upset.

So I ask... I have my hard drive. My hard drive has Power Director 12 files.

Do one of these files have the registration code in them?

Can I just copy these files over to my new computer and reinstall 16?

I can turn on my old computer for about 30 min, is it possible to find the registration code in the PD 16 program when it's on!?

Please help.

I'm not asking for something I do not own. I just want to find if I can recover lost information,
