Hi,
The aim is to provide visual image information to guide members. HERE is NOT a place to post questions - do that elsewhere under your own topic.

How to:
Open PD
Call up the Preference dialogue display.
Edit > Preferences (or Keyboard shortcut Alt+C) > General tab.
Uncheck the option: "Enable file processing...."

When to turn off:
When you have a large enough computer which can process HD video file without your system becoming stressed.

Check out the diagnostic and camera files of those who edit HD video:

How to - change your video Preview quality

An often asked Newbie question: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/0/9671.page
Tonight when I was reviewing some video (shot on the flip ultra HD) the video look VERY nice and sharp. Detailed to the last pixle. When I drag it down into the video track (story board) the detail goes to complete junk. Very fuzzy and a very large loss of detail.
Is this normal??? Is there a way for me to preserve the quality I see when I do just a preview before dragging it into the story board?

The Answer
The preview display quality is generally governed by two factors.
1. the setting selected
2. The capability/size of your graphics card.

The latter of these really does affect the display in the highest setting. Improving the size of your graphics card greatly increases the quality of the video previewed, especially HD. The benefit of a better graphic card also assists with the running of the program.

Hi contributors,
Some of you have been experiencing problems uploading. Here is a quick guide to TWO methods to upload your video samples.

There are 2 ways to upload:
1. Because IE8 doesn't support FTP format, please copy the URL: ftp://PDR8_4:3EJKQ73O@ftp.gocyberlink.com* and paste to Windows Explorer.
The actual media files would be either copy and pasted into the ftp directory or clicked and dropped into the location. Upload or information transfer will then take place.

2.Use FTP Client tool: Filezilla
Download:
From Filezilla http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client
Here is User Guide for your reference http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=clientHere
Filezilla Quick Guide (http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Using)
Using an FTP software you can use the standard locate and transfer the data or or click and drop into the appropriate user interface pane. FTP software vary and have slightly differing displays. Once placed the transfer of data can be started.

*NOTE: The FTP links given here are just examples, the actual links are PM'd to members who contribute.

Hi,
Last night Adrian (vn800rider) got me to check out a new found function in PD8. I'd like others who have raw .mp4 video files to test please.

For my experiment (and what Adrian did) I used an original .mp4 file created by my Sanyo HD 2000 camera (Adrian's 1010).
Open PD
Place an .mp4 video into Media Library (I use MediaShow 5 to navigate through my video and then click drag and drop media into PD).
Select Produce > Mpeg-4 > Mobile Phone > Mobile Hi-Vision Cam Woo
Select Output folder
Select Start
A *.3G2 file is created
Highlight the finished file extension .3G2 and replace with .mp4 extension.

Duplicating a clip where subtitles have been added.

1.Identify the section you wish duplicated.
2. Align the slide scrubber
3. Now "separate" the slider (error in image instruction) by selecting the orange icon on the right of the scrubber.
4. Move the orange slider along to include the whole area.
5. Select copy
6. Mover the slider to where you want - click on another clip is a quick way.
7. Reposition and then select paste.
8. As shown the section is duplicated.

Your video file is too big for the disc.
Solution choices:

1. Place an image in either the Video Track or PiP Track and then highlight it (one click on the item in the track).
2. select Edit Image.

How to remove the sample files

The dilemma: When I open a new project the library window contains the files that came with the software. I would like to delete this silly things permanently...

Open PD
Keyboard shortcut, Alt+C
You're now in Edit > Preferences
File tab (the first one that shows)
Uncheck Automatically load sample clips when PowerDirector opens
Click OK

Now select Directors chair icon, top left
File > New project

The sample files no longer display and will no longer display unless you re-select them.

Please note the sample files are useful to learn how to use PD and I use them when I give instructions on how to complete a task. Practice with them before removing them

How to adjust the volume levels in all clips

The question: I want to change the audio level of the entire movie, not clip by clip.
Is this possible?

It's a do-able.

1. Highlight all clips
1-1. Click on the first clip
1-2 Using keyboard Ctrl button, select and hold down
1-3. Now using your mouse select the last clip.
All are highlighted.
2. Go to the Video horizontal volume slider control and adjust.
