tv Safe and gridlines greyed out on certain clips

re-editing an old video
Splitting the timeline at the chapter markers and finding that some of the clips have the tv safe and gridlines greyed out.
Have been inserting a graphic at the start of the problem clip, this may be the trigger but I can,t figure out why.
Any suggestions appreciated. RobertA101

Could be several reasons perhaps.
1) If you are in "Movie" mode, TV Safe Zone lines won't appear. They only appear in "Clip" mode.
2) If you are using "Titles" and have the title selected that's overlayed on a video/pic, TV Safe Zone lines won't appear
3) Item 2 also applies to Fx added

If none of those are correct, maybe post a pic of your entire screen when the TV Safe Zone lines are missing for other possible clues.

Hi,

A method that can be helpful is to produce a .png file with a transparent background with appropriate grid lines in an image editing program.
This can then be dropped into a low track and switched on or off to ensure content is within the required grid/guidelines.
It can then be deleted before production.
