I want to insert and image into a topic on this forum. When I click on the image icon, it asks for a URL. No option to insert from my system drive.

Thanks.

Hello,

You just need to click the "Attachments" button in your post or reply, and then "Choose File" to access the photo file on your computer.

So there is no way to insert an image from my PC inline in my post, i.e. between paragraphs of text? For example:

and more text here ...??

Hello,

Sure there is, but you must first upload the image to an image sharing site like https://imgur.com/. You then click the "Insert/edit image" button above where you type in your text, and then input the shared image's URL in your post.

You can see an example here in Optodata's response: https://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/84642.page#post_box_349935

I tried that but in my case I uploaded it to the Public folder on my OneDrive as I will do now below. It did not work before.

That won't work because OneDrive doesn't share the files the way an image board like Imgur does. You also need to use the correct syntax (which is automatically generated by Imgur):

Use Direct Link with the Insert/edit tool and you can manually resize the image to fit, or use either of the BBC tools to paste directly in the text box.

You can also use the forum's Preview button to make sure the image is sized properly, and you can drag a corner and resize the image if needed.

Yes I was afraid that OneDrive's format was the culprit. I don't particularly like to use an image sharing site just to insert an image into a post. I understand that it saves space for the BBS but it's much less convenient to the end user.

That said, thanks for the explanation. It was very helpful.

On a related note, it seems that the forum has just started ignoring the pixel sizes specified in the Insert Image tool. I reduced the sizes of both images in this thread to be 550, so they wouldn't take up the full 680 pixel column width; however the forum now auto-resizes them to completely fill the entire width.

That wasn't the case yesterday when I could still specify 500 pixels for this post.
