I just received a 'message posted' email for an old thread and as far as I can see the last post was on 2nd July 2016. Someone clearing an garbage can out somewhere?

Yes, someone posted a spam message in that thread yesterday and the PowerDirector Moderator quickly removed it and its harmful external links. Unfortunately there is no way to stop the email notifications from going out.

Yes that's the one and that fully explains it thanks.

p.s. I think something similar occurs with the forum indices e.g. the root index currently shows a post by a user who has a zero count of posts. The indices would benefit from being refreshed at least when a browser starts a new session at the forum.
