PD 17 preferences issues

I have just upgrade from
PD16 Ultra to PD17 Ultra. The first thing that happened, is that it said
it could not find a earlier version of PD ! So it asked to put the
serial number from an earlier version in the box below, which I did and
then it installed. After opening PD17 the first option was to set up
preferences and a problem showed up instantly. And that was a small box
popped up with the messages as shown in the included image. I could not
get rid of the message by clicking on the OK, it just kept repeating. I
had to exit PD17 by using Task Manger. I repeated this exercise several
times, with exactly the same results. So I then re-installed PD17, with
the same things that happened the first time. I should also mention
here, that before I re-installed PD 17 I opened PD 16, and to my
surprise the same thing now happens with it. When I open preferences
that small box appears..how disappointing. Now back to the PD17 issues.
After re-installing and selecting preferences the box appears, however
if I click on OK, it disappears and then I select another option to set
and it appears again, and again if I click on OK, it goes away. I set
all the options I wanted using this method, and then tried to close the
preferences. and I had to click on the OK about a dozen or more times,
but it did set the preferences.

Question is, how do I get rid of this box ??

Thanks

Hello,

That's a very strange issue and there seems to be something going on with your computer.

Can you go into Preferences and check all the folder paths? For example, the Import Folder and Export Folder in File Preferences. Try changing them to a local or regularly used folder.

Especially the one on the CyberLink Cloud tab. This might be where the issue is, as my path reads:

C:\Users\User_Name\Documents\CyberLink\CyberLink Drive\PowerDirector\

Change this folder path to something else...a folder on your computer.

If that doesn't work, contact technical support

Hello,

Did you try the one on the CyberLink Cloud tab? I edited my reply above just now to add it, since I noticed it had the same path as your error.

BINGO !!! You got it..

...and what I find most interesting is that it affected PD16 which never had a problem. I then went into PD 16 and changed the cloud folder and is now fixed as well. So it would seem although the initial installation could not find PD16, it did modify some folder settings !! Very strange, but we have learned something.
Thanks much
KM
