For the life of me I cannot find a way to paste part of an audio clip to another position without inserting and lengthening the entire audio clip in either audio director or wave editor. Is there anyway to paste with overlay to just replace a section without it actually inserting it?

Welcome to the AudioDirector forum

If you're working in the Mix module of ADR, you can insert extracts of tracks & SFX by placing them in other tracks, as shown below.

Also, in the Mix module, you can split tracks, remove sections & move/rearrange them as you wish.
