Sound interfered with in DVD playback in PowerDVD 17

Why does PowerDVD 17 add a weird echoey effect to the sound from DVDs (but not Blu-rays) no matter what settings I use?

I do not want it, I want the option of the exact original sound unless I choose to apply some extra effect.

I'm having to use VLC or HPC-HC to play my DVDs because of this and will go back to PowerDVD 16 if nobody can help me with this.

Okay, back to PowerDVD 16 it is.

The extra features in PowerDVD 17 were a big disappointment anyway. Brian G. (In England)
