XLTN and thanks for the feedback!

So far the mod only works with the following 2D Disc profiles:
- H.264 / DD 5.1

Other possible 2D Disc profiles combinations that could be modded are:
- H.264 / DD 2.0
- H.264 / LPCM 2.0
- MPEG2 / DD 5.1
- MPEG2 / DD 2.0
- MPEG2 / LPCM 2.0

I imagine the "H.264 / DD 2.0" would be popular but I'm not sure in anyone would need the others. Any suggestions on what profiles people needed modded?
Thanks

FYI - I've also modded the H.264 DD2.0 profile as well and placed the updated registry files in the summary thread http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/30195.page#165398

Hi

I finally got some RE BR blanks and tried the above again method to no avail.

Had the instructions printed out etc. used the "turn on" and proper settings but the result will not play on my BR player. I assume that this was written for PD12. I use PD12 Ultimate.

And it will not work with or without menus, the pb hangs at the menu page.

No problems using the fixPD9 method.

Obviously I am doing something wrong again, any ideas ?

Eugene

EDIT: Does not play on my computer either, same problem, hangs up. Mediainfo data looks ok.

Have not yet tried an other player.

Thanks for testing. Let me run it again from my end and it was fine both playing to a PS3 using a BD-RE and as a structure on my HDD. I'm travelling at work but should get to look at it later this week. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Hi

Did have a chance to check the disk on a Sony player, it plays the menu, albeit in a jerking manner while on mine the menu comes up w/o motion with green streaks. The menu is the WORLD MONOPOLY.
Could it be a bit rate problem?.
According to mediainfo the bit rate is normal but it measures average rate I read.

Eugene

EDIT: tried to do it in 60i as a check and have same problem. Never had much luck with titles even in PD11.

2nd EDIT: appear to have problems with my BR player. Will not recognize 60i BR menus from PD11 and PD12 but has no problems with commercial menus.

Have to sort this out first. May need a new player

Tested and it is all working for me including menus (see pic). Make sure "Enable hardware video encoder" is not checked else it will fail with an NVidia GPU and I have no idea what it will do with AMD or Intel.

Can you post a similar screen shot if still having problems.

Note: I'm a 50p user but it should be fine at 60p. It works fine on a PC using LAV/madVR (but no menu of course though I can play the menu clip manually). Also fine playing for a 2x BD-RE on the PS3 to a 50i TV.

Thanks

I took one 60P to a neighbor and it played ok there, so it is my Samsung player. Looking at a LG BP330, it has good specs.

What Player are you using?

Unfortunately I can't help much on HW Player recommendations (as being a geek I use a HTPC for all my playback that can easily eat 1080/50 or 60p & all my playback is file so no menus). The only HW player I've got is the PS3 hence why the testing is pretty limited from my end (sorry!) but the PS3 is/was the "gold" std for many years in testing BD compatibility and it seems to work for me just fine (but the TV the PS3 is connected to is an older 50i set). The other option would be take a test disk down to the local shop and try a bunch out to see what works.

Eugene, you might want to review this thread as well http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/15/20975.page , it was two Samsung players of differing models that had the issue. I've copied my comment from there which I still see very often. My PD12 still creates this mixed framerate between menu and content. You might want to check your files.

I'm not sure who's at fault but some players don't like mixed format between menu system and content for BD playback. PD has a knack for creating this. Check the video characteristics of the menu system vs the content by going to the BDMV folder > STREAM folder and then providing MediaInfo details of like the 00000.m2ts and 00001.m2ts (A content and chapter transport stream). I've seen PD create a 23.976fps menu system and a 29.97fps content in a NTSC project. Other inconsistencies may be in the AVC profile being used. These issues appear to trip up some standalone players.

LG, Panasonic, JVC from feedback of my created disc users are a few brands that appear more acceptable to these discs than Samsung, however, it also appears model specific.

Hi Jeff,

FYI - This mod makes both the Menu and the Movies 50 or 60p but you are correct in that PD will normally create a 23.976p Menu then will encode the movie based on the settings you select (eg in 1920x1080 it would be 23.975, 50 or 60i). As you have found this change of frame rate can causes issues with some players and AV Equipment. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Well good news all around.

The Samsung was defective and was replaced with a LG-BP330. All the menus etc. are now working fine!

I picked that unit because it had the biggest listing of formats it plays plus being reasonable priced.

Excellent! I take it you now have 1080/60p goodness all working on BD for both the menus and content and it is smooth, no sync issues with the menus working etc? Any probs at all? For fun did you trying loading the M2TS into tsmuxer (I found it now loads fine without any complaints about the audio track - eg no need to remux for better compatibility!)

Yes Nathan,
I tried that and it behaved as you said.

I am a happy man now and will re-do some edits with menus.

Thanks for doing the hard lifting.

I am not sure if you are aware that a longtime competitor to PD now includes AVCHD 2.0 burning.

Best regards all

Thanks guys - it's lots of fun getting this stuff to work

FYI - PD has been able to produce AVCHD 2.0 compliant disks for a while at 1080x50 or 60p and any player that supports AVCHD V2 will (should) be fine. These AVCHD V2.0 disks however will not play on many BD players that don't explicitly support AVCHD V2 as:
- The header identifies the disk as AVCHD V2.0 so a lot of players that are AVCHD (but not V2) compliant will bring up a msg saying they are not compatible with AVCHD V2.0 disks.
- The file format is based on an 8.3 naming convention so a lot players that are BD only (eg no AVCHD support at all) will not see the disk at all

What this hack does is to let you create a BD disk that contains 1080/50 or 60p content with:
- A std BD header
- Long file names

The result is all BD players will try to play the disk but as it is not a (currently) supported spec it is hit and miss what ones (as you have found) will work.

PD makes all versions of BD and AVCHD disks that are compliant to their respective standards. We have just found a way of making a non-compliant BD that now contains 1080/50 or 60p material that works in many players .

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks
Nathan

Eugene, it would be interesting to see if the LG-BP330 will play a AVCHD Ver 2 disc. The specs say it is AVCHD compatible but does not mention what Version it supports. If it does, then you could just use the existing PD options for this but you will have to create manually burn the structure from that created on the Thumb Drive (all PD will let you do without another hack) then burn to a Disc manually. Nathan, (JMONE)

Thanks for sharing, I really appreciate it. Your TurnOnBD1080p works great! I used your hack and produced a 60p Blu-ray Disc with menus and is plays perfectly on my Sony BDP-S580. All of your threads on this 50p/60p subject have been extremely informative. Thank you. Best Regards,
Steve

Nathan, before buying I checked with LG and after some initial confusion, yes it puts OUT 60P. Told that I meant the disc, the answer was yes, AVCHD2.0 although not listed in the spec.

Played a BR disc with menu in 60P using PD12 with "turnonBD1080P".

The LG-BP330 was picked since it listed the biggest number of formats it plays. And the price is nice too.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Glad it is working and Eugen is right, 1080/50 or 60p is "awesome". I loath interlaced content on principle and 24fps is too slow for all but very controlled filming environments. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

I'd still like to work out how to force PD12 to output 50/60p when using the native BD Disc creation option....but that is it for now.

1920x1080/50 or 60p BD With Menus is Working!

It's a bit rough so I need some testing and feedback from others to see if it is consistent but on my setup I've got PD12 creating 1920x1080/50p Blu Ray Disks with full menus without any other progs involved. The output plays just fine in any player that can decode 1080/50p material.

*** Disclaimer - While this just involves a registry change, please make sure you are comfortable with this. It is working for me (Win8 ) but all setups are different so if you dog gets lost or the world ends you have my condolences but you will have to deal with any issues arising.

To enable "1920x1080/50 or 60p BD"
1) Make sure PD12 is closed
2) Run "TurnOnBD1080p" and accept the change prompts (it will change the registry settings)
3) Run PD12 and author a Project as usual then use the settings as show in the Pic. Currently you MUST select the HD1280x720/50 or 60p and the 5.1 DD Audio options.
4) Let me know what works or does not work

To disable "1920x1080/50 or 60p BD"
1) Make sure PD12 is closed
2) Run "TurnOffBD1080p" and accept the change prompts (it will change the registry settings back)

Once I get some feedback and with more testing I'll write it up correctly in a new thread.

So let's fast forward to late 2016, where we are now at Powerdirector 15.

ALL of our cameras at this point shoot in 1080/60P. ALL of our players and TVs support 1080/60P.

Question of the Day:

Did PowerDirector ever fix this embarrassing problem? Or realize that the lowly hobby developer had to come to the rescue on this because PowerDirector itself corrupts 60P video files? Is it possible to create 1080/60P BluRays in PowerDirector 15?
