I would like to make a preset like this in photodirector.

Thanks,

Hello Gustavo,

Welcome to the PhD forum, in case you've not been welcomed before! laughing

There's a bit of challenge in your question because Photoshop works with "Adjustment Layers", where photo editing software like PhotoDirector & Lightroom go about it slightly differently.

I followed the tutorial you linked and was able to generate something like the "Nashville" effect found in Instagram etc. I mainly did this to grasp what adjustments were being made. This screen capture shows the changes made at each step in the tutorial:

Since then, I've been working on replicating the same (or similar) effect in PhotoDirector. As yet, I've not come up with a set of simple adjustments to present here... but I'm getting closer.

Hi Gustavo, it does look like an interesting FX. I thought I'd have a go at trying to produce something similar

Using Cyberlinks screen recorder I've managed to produce something close to what you've asked for. As PIX mentioned, PhotoDirector works completely differently from Photoshop so you have to find another way to achive your intended FX.

Don't worry you haven't gone deaf as there is NO SFX.

The settings I've used are

  1. TONE setting

  2. MIDTONE =9

  3. DARK =60

LEVEL setting = FLAT

  1. CURVE

  2. GREEN=13

  3. BLUE=100

  1. SPLIT TONE

  2. HIGH.

  3. HUE=47

  4. SATURATION=100

  5. SHADOW

  6. HUE=237

  7. SATURATION=25

I think it will take you somewhere close, you can play around with those settings till you find what you want.

Happy editing

Cheers

Dave

Superb work Kyle!

In these things, there (of course) is no absolute answer. There are many variants, each with its own particular qualities. The adjustments that get the effect you're after are dependant on the original photo.

Having said that, hats off to Kyle for building a preset that replicates the Nashville effect.

A variation I played with was in the Layers module (after making colour, tone & curve adjustments). That was to add a photo layer (attached) using Linear Burn or Linear Light blending mode, with opacity set to 30-50%.

My pleaseure PIX. The creative process can be fun once you can get your teeth into what can be achived with a few tweeks.

Mind you, I must admit that I haven't yet delved into the Black Art of using the Key function in PD8. I can't wait to try itcool

Your Preset is great Kyle, much better than my tries. The only thing that i did better was the blue shadows but then i lost the yellowish tone.

Nevertheless with your preset and my 3 tries i can get always one that works for a picture!

Were are mine if you want to try:

That's excellent news, Mutley444. Yes, I'm sure you'll find different images will need a slight change in treatment but you have a great starting point. Well done.

Keep up the great work.
