I currently am using PD14 on my desktop, upgraded from PD13.

Is it possible to use PD 13 on my laptop? Alll the necessary files are on my desktop which I have burned to DVD.

Am going on a 4 month vacation to Laos and would like to use PD13 there because I don't have enough money to buy another PD14 or PD15 subscription. Jack

Yes, you can install PD 13 on your laptop. If you have the original install files.

I assume that PD13 was removed (uninstalled) when PD 14 upgrade was installed on the desktop.

The Cyberlink license says one computer. That means it can be installed on any one computer that you own, as long as it is not installed on any other computer at the same time. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Hello Carl312 and Longedge. Thanks for your responses.
Carl312 is correct.PD14 is on my desktop and PD 13 was removed from my desktop during the upgrade process. However, the original PD13 files are still on the desktop. I accessed those, copied them to DVD and was wondering if I'd be successful putting them on my laptop.
I will try installing PD13 on my laptop and see if I have any success. Thanks again to you both. Jack

smile that's the point - PD14 is an upgrade to PD13. You've got PD14 on the machine only because you have a copy of PD13 licensed to that machine. You have to think of the two versions as a single entity.
PD13 has its license and PD 14 has its license.

PD 13 must have been a Full version, while PD 14 was an upgrade. That makes both valid. PD 13 can be on the laptop while PD 14 is on the Desktop.

boongsong paid for each version at the time they were installed, therefore he owns both copies. The fact that PD 14 was an upgrade, makes PD 13 on the Desktop no longer valid on the desktop. Still a valid license on another machine as long as that is the only machine PD 13 is installed on.

Longedge, I have several versions of Powerdirector on one machine, they are all full versions (none are upgrades). Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Thanks Carl312.
Having a problem with PD13 on my laptop. I can't get it to install and create an icon on the screen.
If I click on PDR13 Application file (it is an .exe file), PD13 will not open unless I have the DVD loaded in E. Then, it takes forever to load as it's reading from the DVD. Don't know why it won't install in my Documents folder which is where it is on my desktop.
I haven't found a way to get the files to load into the laptop. Still trying. Will update later.
Yes, I purchased all PD versions from PD10 to my current PD14. For some reason, I'm not able to find the DVD of 12 or 13 but the complete files are still in my desktop.

You are right. I did the upgrades. Guess I'll just have to buy another PD14 if available. On a very limited budget and was hoping to get around that.

Programs don't install in the My Documents folder but in the Program Files folder.

You don’t have to copy any files from your desktop to dvd. See this link from yourself: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/41831.page . Just install it with the backup dvd that you purchased with PD13. That should work.

Hi tomasc. Thanks for your input.
You are right, they are in the programs folder, my goof. I still have the files in my desktop folder. I burned them to DVD because I can't find the copy I made when I downloaded the PD13 upgrade. The problem I have is, when I load the DVD in E. then click on the PD13 Application (.exe file), PD 13 won't install on my laptop. I can click on that file and, as long as I have the DVD in my laptop drive, PD13 will open. If I remove the DVD, gone.
I have PD10 and 11. Was thinking I'd jus go ahead and use 11 but can't because it says I need a previous version and when I enter PD10 it won't work.

I still have the three download links for PD13 and if I click on the install link, it says it's no longer available.
I think, to end the confusion and frustration, I will just go to Amazon or EBay and buy a new copy of PD13. That's about all I can afford right now.
FYI - I didn't purchase PD13 w/DVD - download only.
Thanks

If your PD 13 was an upgrade, it will not install as a standalone, it must have the version of PD you upgraded from present.

Only full versions can be installed without any other Powerdirector present.

Thanks Carl312. I figured that was the case. That's why I figured I'd use my DVD of PD11 because I also had a copy of PD10. I tried to use the PD10 activation code, it didn't work.
I will continue to work this to see if I'm successful or not. If not, what I might do is get PD15 and then see if I can get PD14 on my laptop.
I'm the type that doesn't like to admit defeat. If there's a will, there's a way.
Have a good one. Jack
