Sony didn't update that Vegas garbage since forever.
Their best hardware encoder was based on work done in 2010 by a company (MainConcept) that was later acquired by DivX. DivX buried that software. Encoder didn't work with video cards newer than 2010.

Sony tried to develop their own encoder, but got sucked into "OpenCL is soo cool" instead of using available hardware (NVENC, QuickSync) and didn't perform at all. Didn't care to invest too much in developing this software, it was just a cash cow.

Maybe now somebody will decide to invest some money in that software. Somehow I doubt it.
