Paint Designer...Who Knew? (A tip for those who don't)

I've been using PD for almost two years now and have read many, many posts on this forum. But until today, I had never heard of Paint Designer! When trying to animate the drawing of a map route, I tried using Screen Recorder. It did the job, but was awkward. When I found Paint Designer, I realized it would have been a much easier-to-use solution (for me, anyway).

For those, like me, who didn't realize Paint Designer is built into PD, it's (imho) buried in the PIP Objects Room. You go there, click on Paint Animations, then click on the "pencil" at the top, which opens the Paint Designer window. I searched both PD University and PD Toots on YouTube, but found only this passing reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akUsQvOpbso.

You may want to give this a glance, if you haven't been aware of its existence... Regards,
Dan

Gosh Dan, you had missed a useful tool. I'm glad you found it in the end (so to speak).

Dan, the Paint designer has been in Powerdirector since PD 12 for sure.

It may have been in PD 11, I don't have PD 11 installed, so no way to check. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Hi, Dan!

Are you using PD14 Ultra(as I am)? If so, I'll have a look-see and possibly there might be a use or two in it for me at some future time.

Cheers!

Neil.

If you have a Drawing Tablet, the Paint designer works better. You can draw straight lines with a ruler and drawing tablet. You can also Trace pictures and do a pretty good job of drawing people.

I found one on sale for about $40 (which is a fantastic price) some time ago.

Brand was Turcom model TS-6608.

Still available at Amazon.

Disclosure: I Used Paint.net to draw this. You can import the picture into Powerdirector.

Neil,

I have Ultimate, so I don't know if Ultra has it or not. If so, enjoy. If not, upgrade.

Carl,

Thanks for the tip. Looks a lot easier than trying to use a mouse to draw freehand lines.
