In my opinion: Installing a beta patch is at your own risk, back up your data where necessary. A beta patch is not for the novice/newbie user and should be installed only by those who are experienced in computer use/problem solving.

  • Fixes crashing when producing 2K/4K video with applied effects.

Still crashes for many applied effects that are accelerated with OpenCL on many Nvidia GPU's.

Basic issue presented here http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/47262.page#247255 still present in this beta release. Attached video shows basic 24Mbps source file encoded with Nvidia hardware video encoder results in a 17Mbps render.

So basic issue still exists, one cannot even achieve standard interlaced BD 24Mbps video quality with your Nvidia hardware video encoding capability. One must result to CPU encoding.

Since this thread is monitored by CL Dev, the following discussion is pertinent for them:

I found two items that resolve the OpenCL issue I was experiencing which was also reported in this beta thread with a video of the crash event. http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/46732.page#242494 The issue was odd in that not all GPU's and/or drivers for me were affected, some worked fine. Furthermore, older versions of PD also worked correctly and reinstallation of PD14 would not resolve the issue.

Two items I found to resolve my current OpenCL issue which was shown in the other post video clip:
1) Utilize a older version of PD14 OpenCLWrapper.dll, version 1927 of 7/27/15 worked fine for me. Obviously not a good solution but led me to what was probably the real issue which is discussed in Item 2.
2) Some small content folder %temp%/OpenCLFolderXXXX, XXXX for the given version of the OpenCLWrapper for the CUDA OpenCL ptx files of each used accelerated effect, somehow one of these become corrupt in some fashion. Removing these folders so they could be regenerated upon use of an OpenCL accelerated effect resolved the issue. With the folder cleanup, I now can use the OpenCLWrapper.dll version 2302 that was released with the official PD14 2527 patch instead of the previous 1927 version as well as OpenCLWrapper version 2806 released with this PD14 patch 2807.

I'm unsure how/why the folder contents became corrupt. It may have been user inflicted as I change GPU's periodically to address forum topics and that may have been related. A nasty failure mode to say the least.
