I want to visualize where/how I went fram A to B. Starting in A, a "snake" growing in lenght following the road to B.

Setnan,
welcome to the Forum.
Perhaps the easiest way is to go to my website find the link to RouteGenerator, a free program that is easy to figure out. PD has a drawing tool but map-tracking is very tedious in it. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.
Tape capture using 6 VCR, TBC-1000, Elite BVP4+, Sony D8 camcorder with TBC.

Hi,
I have to disagree with Barry, I have used Route Generator and don't think it is particularly great for what I want to display. The route I created (in the image below) took me about 2 minutes to do and was a fast quickie and I didn't have PiP Designer in full screen display.
1. Have your map image pre captured and ready to go.
2. Open PDR 14
3. Bring the image into the Media Library.
4. Drop your image into Track 1 and move the slider a bit
5. Go to PiP's Object Room
6. Select the Pencil drawing icon
7. Select Pen and adjust the width and colour.
8. Click the red record button
9. Click a start point and track the route, you can pause at any point by lifting off the left mouse click or stop by selecting the record button again.
10. Preview play what you've created in Paint Designer and the red line will track across your map route.
11. Select Save as and name your new PiP Object.
12. Drag the new PiP object you've created into Track 2 under the Track 1 map. The length/shortness of the image and the new Object in the Track (1 & 2) will dictate the speed of the red line motion.

Try it. I find it fast and easy.

And I just tried the "Dafydd-trick" also, and it works fine too.

Thanks you to both Barry and Dafydd for a very quick response !

I just find the PD drawing tool difficult to use with a mouse, and get a really nice line. I would like to give it a shot with one of those drawing tablet things and a stylus. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

If you have a lot (tons) of money to spend and you plan to do this frequently and you want a real professional look, consider Vasco da Gama software

I may go with RouteGenerator, since I'm useing both Pinnacle Studio and PowerDirector.

And I may invest in a tablet and stylus. My son has one, but then he is a professional designer ...

And I don't have tons (or even kilos) of money ;

Paint Designer:
1. Remember the undo button can be used to redo a sequence.
2. You don't have to do all the map route in one hit, stop the recording and check, then start the recording to continue - the map routes will flow together.
3. I have a tablet and stylus, rarely ever use it nowadays. My screen is bigger than the tablet workface. Makes it more difficult to sketch with.
4. Full screen makes map route tracking a lot easier in Paint Designer.
Best of luck and why not show us the route and such when you've finished?

Hi Jan -

If you use the Paint Designer option, as suggested by Dafydd, there's a masking tip Cranston came up with that will help "clean up" the lines - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akUsQvOpbso
