A Corel update? A Windows update? Neither of those would interfere with SmartSound.

Are you trying to use one of the tracks labelled in bold blue? or one of the white ones? Try using one of the bold blue tracks and see if it works - they're the ones installed on your system.



You can download a preview of the white tracks but they cannot be inserted in the timeline.

Dear Tony, thanks for your help and sorry for my english.

The problem is when I use the blue songs, appears a new window ask me to upload de Corel Foundations (?) If I say yes, dowload, install correctly but after when I open the project again the window appears again. Every time.

If I say remove de upload, is the same. But If I not use any song in the project nothing.

I don't know to put a image in the reply but I attached a file with the image.

I understand now. It's Core Foundations that's trying to update - that's the name of the SmartSound album.

Click on the SmartSound button then on the Albums tab to check whether Core Foundations is installed. It should have been installed with PowerDirector.



Next click on the Internet tab and uncheck both options.

Restart PDR and check if the tracks are still blue. What happens when you try to use them?

OK I follow yours instructions and restart PDR. Again the windows to update de Core Fundation.

After that I use the project and the give a message about the preview of sounds I must be conected to Internet and activate de option in SmartSound.

I try other way, uninstaller de Core Foundations and update again. Is the same. That morning a reinstal the program PDR. Nothing.

Now when I open the project with the ssmart sound included, is crazy, appears de same window. Nothing change.

I use 6 song at that project, well, when I open the project ask me 6 times, when I create the Bluray during the proces ask me 6 times if not the PDR is stop.

I have seen something like that before. I submit your best course of action is to contact Smartsound/Magic Music support.

Hi Luis -

Something has gone badly wrong with your SmartSound installation. It should not be trying to update itself in that way.

Barry has suggested contacting SmartSound Support & those people will certainly get your issue resolved.

There are two other alternatives that should help:

1. Completely uninstall & reinstall PDR14 - or -


2. Download & install the Full SmartSound Quicktracks 5.1.8 installer and Common Data Installer (204mb) from http://www.smartsound.com/support/updates?product=cyberlink

Tony was on the right track. Usually the Core Foundations album will install the first time you load the SmartSound interface. The update file (CoreFoundations.ssup) should normally be deleted after it runs, but it seems that this is not happening for you. You can manually remove the file and it should stop asking you to run it.

Please close PowerDirector and open the following folder on your hard drive:

C:\ProgramData\SmartSound Software Inc\

Inside this folder, delete the entire "UpdatePacks" folder. Once removed, launch PowerDirector and open the SmartSound interface and it will create a new, empty UpdatePacks folder. It should no longer ask you to update the Core Foundations album.

Not only did sutor2008 get a quick answer, but it was from FRANK himself, long-time support guru who knows all/sees all when it comes to the rare (and they are fairly rare) Smartsound error.
