LOL!

No matter what, you can always depend on the ubiquitous A/V bug where the A leaves the V. In addition the 2 parts of the files certainly appear to no longer be aligned in the timeline.

I would report but this is three versions and umpteen builds of PowerDirector. Simply unforgiveable at this point.

For what it's worth it is video files from my Olympus ELP-1.

Hi Barry,
Please submit your issue to online customer support and provide the packed project material. Please, note the ticket ID and advise me (so I can pass it on to CyberLink H.O.).

Jeff,
I see no actual content, but the places where the broken files should appear now seem to be repaired.
Should I merge the projects? And what/how did you do that?

Basic pds file, you would have to point to your own content. When opening the pds file, PD would have typically asked the basic browse/ignore question for content location. Obviously make backups of what you have so no user or PD error causes lost content or corrupt pds file issues.

I'm missing something. If I open Barry's project, I see the 3 split clips on Track 4 at the 2-3 minute mark. This is a familiar situation from versions past.

If I open Jeff's project and browse to where Barry's clips are, I see his project with the clips no longer split. What did you change in Barry's project that repaired the damage?

It's only a few files so I can simply drag/drop to replace them, I just wanted to report the issue, and put in a ticket.
I do not think I explained the problem properly, though the issue is well documented, as CL support replied asking why I was having an issue trying to unlink the A from the V.

Not sure if what I did addressed what Barry thought his problem was as it sounded like he couldn't handle just the pds file.

From the below comment it sounds like CL is on top of the issue so whatever was wrong should be fixed real soon. What I saw in the timeline was what appeared to be a localized basic user edit induced anomaly, however, not knowing the exact edit history it's only a guess. Either way, it is extremely easy to correct. It would be an issue if PD randomly did this throughout a whole timeline, I've experienced nothing yet to indicate that is the case.

OK, but what DID you do? Did you simply realign the split sections and link them again, or did you find and correct some errors in the .pds file? Maybe I'm over-thinking this...

From reading his description, Barry didn't accidentally split & misalign the clips, he experienced the split clips as an unrelated consequence to an edit somewhere else on the timeline, just like many of us did with PD12 until the v2923 beta *patch* came out.

From the below comment it sounds like CL is on top of the issue so whatever was wrong should be fixed real soon.
Jeff
I'm not so sure that anything's in the pipeline yet, especially since they didn't seem to understand the actual problem.

As the problem has been so well-known, I suppose my explanation to SUPPORT was lacking, but Dafydd mentioned he might "intervene" so that may have affected the details to which I wrote SUPPORT.
In the end, SUPPORT had no idea what I was trying to say, not sure who's fault that is.
The fact remains though, that the audio un-links from the video, and it is NOT user error. It's a Cyberlink error.

I am missing something here. Opened Barry's packed project and find that all of his video clips on track 3,4,5 a/v are linked together. I had to right mouse click and unlink them to move the audio separate from the video. Don't see any misalignment on his packed project. Click on the clip audio and both the video and audio are highlighted at the same time.

Closed PD and opened Milvid1_JL.pds and browse to the mp3 and the whole project opened again with no video clips unlinked or misaligned as before.

Must not know what is going on or what symtoms you are all seeing. I am using the PD installed version and not the subscription live version if that makes a difference. I need to investigate further as I can't highlight the audio part of the video clip by itself.

Edited to provide timeline screenshot.

I just tried the sample boats.wmv on the earlier version of PD and find that unlinking the video and audio allows you to highlight the video or audio. You can then move the unlinked video or audio separately like it should. That points to my PD14 installation being the problem.

Thinking back to optodata post about the unlink problem in PD12 I see what the problem is about now. The video on the timeline is 30 fps. Each frame is 33.3 milliseconds. The audio here is leading the video by about 9.9 milliseconds. Yes, Cyberlink needs to fix this problem. Maybe the particular tech. support personnel misunderstood Barry because he didn't expand the timeline in order to see the problem as I did initially. See the screenshot below:

Audio is started 9.9 milliseconds early.

Maybe, it depends how it really occurred. Audio is timeline adjustable on a 1/10 frame basis relative to video on a frame basis. If one edits with unlinked audio, this 3/10 frame slide relative to video that occured can happen very easily.

Right, but Barry didn't unlink the audio nor did he edit the audio after the unlink happened. It seems very much like the PD12 issue has resurfaced
