This was an issue in PD13, especially for those with a 4K camera. Well, in PD14, it still renders the shadow files very slow.

Also, the timeline is slow for 4K XAVC files when not using shadow files... Main Machine: Jetway NF9G-QM77, Intel i7-3610QM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 3GB, 128gb SSD, Windows 10 Pro

Would be nice if SF generation could make use of the codecs in 9xx GPUs.

Exactly. Also I don't know if it's my system or not, but the Intel Graphics 4600 should decode 4k videos just fine. Even with Use Hardware Decoding option in PowerDirector, when I use GPU-Z, there is no GPU usage for the decoding, which is why when I edit videos it is very slow and I must use shadow files.
