Colour board question

I am trying to apply a border around a colour board.

The colour board is to be used as a background for text.

I create a colour board in the timeline and then go to modify, I then check the select border box and set my preferences and save.

When I play the clip in the timeline there is no border applied???

Any ideas?

Select the board in the timeline. Then in the preview window grab the white corner "handles" and drag inward, to reveal the border.
