Hi all,

My system:-

i7-2600
W7 x64
8GB low latency RAM
SSD for the OS
"Standard" HDD for everything else
P8H77-M PRO M/B with integrated Intel HD video
discrete video card (several used for testing this error)
2 24" monitors plugged into video card

I'm getting the Production Unsuccessful message when trying to render MKV, MPEG-4 and AVC in any quality when not using the hardware video encoder. All the other formats will render without the hardware video encoder.

Have the latest k-lite codec pack installed, standard edition.

Have tried Intel, AMD and Nvidia Graphics Cards with the latest drivers (except Nvidia using 337.88 ) and all give the same results.

Any ideas why the error would be appreciated.

TIA

Greg

Have you tried re-installing PowerDirector 12?

The Codecs that are disabled or missing are built-in to Powerdirector. A re-install should repair them.

Re-install means to remove the current PowerDirector in Windows Control panel. Then Run the original Install.

Install PD 12, Activate, then install the latest Patch.

You only need to install 2930.

I'm a little confused.....

Are you saying if you install 2930 you don't have to install any updates and/or patches?

Thanks,

What Carl312 is saying is that you don't need to install any of the previous patches, except the latest one.

So, do this: Uninstall PDR12, Reinstall PDR12, Activate it , then Install the 2930 Patch.

Good luck! Mike B.

Look, I'm sorry for being such a noob

But the cyberlink website update page says:-

"Updates PowerDirector 12 to build 2930 "

To me that reads if you install PDR12 build 2930 then the patch is not required.

So my question is, is my understanding correct or not? ie: If you install 2930 no patches or updates are required.

TIA

Oh. Carl312 was talking about your original install so I assumed it was pre-2930 build. So if it is build 2930, then you are right, the patch is not required. Sorry for the confusion. Mike B.

If the codecs are disabled, missing or corrupt would this not mean I could not render when using hardware video encoding too. As it presently I only get the error when not using hardware video encoding for MKV, MPEG-4 and AVC. Using the hardware encoding works.

Un-install the k-lite "package". It only causes problems...

OK, will give it a go. I just thought the reverse was true

The software for the Video Card supplies the Codecs that are supported by the Video Card and Driver Software (HA).
CPU rendering uses the Software and Codecs built into Powerdirector.

Different brands of Video card support some differences in profiles that can be accelerated.

My AMD/ATI card supports WMV Hardware acceleration, I don't think NVidia does.

OK, was not aware the Video Cards supplied their own Codecs. Explains why it does not work without hardware video encoding and does with the hardware video encoding enabled.

Thanks,

Greg
