Thank you Jmone. I downloaded the files and will give it a whirl tomorrow. Time to hit the hay here.

And, as usual will back the computer before.

Eugene

PS it may be a bit later tomorrow, we are going out for Sunday brunch with neighbors.

No Probs - I've tweaked and updated the "TurnOnBD1080p.reg" so you will need to download it again.

All this registry change now does is modify one byte of the existing HD 1280 x 720 profiles that turns them into HD 1920 x 1080 versions (see pic) even though the names in PD12 do not change, the output does! The rest of the profiles in the drop down should be unchanged (so you can apply and leave the change unless you need a 1280x720 profile).

Also some good news in that these raw m2ts files created in this process can be opened directly in tsMuxeR and the audio stream is recognised! Should be no need to remux them.

Many thanks for the great work done!
I tested with Windows XP SP3, therefore I was not sure whether to use your TurnOnBD1080p.reg.
I did a manuel edit with Regedit as follows:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CyberLink\PowerDirector12\AuthorPage\Profile\BDMVProfileMP4AC3_6ch]
"3"=hex:e0,82,ec,00,05,00,00,00,c0,01,00,00, 06,00,00,00,40,66,03,01,80,96,98,00,03,00,00,00,02,00,00,00,05,00,00,00,02,00,00,00,05,00,00,00,40,06,00,00,d0,07,00,00,01,00,00,00,06,00,00,00,01,00,00,00
Modified 13th Binary Data Value from 04(off) to 06(on).
Audio Header OK now. No need for tsMuxeR anymore!.
Now you can Author & Burn Blu-ray at 1920x1080 50/60p.
However I noticed that when played back on PC, the picture quality is not very smooth compared to MultiAVCHD
and it also takes much more time than MultiAVCHD.

Yup you got the change right in the Registry (and I think the reg files would work - but as you are on XP YMMV)! ...but as you have found you need plenty of grunt to decode at this bitrate esp with 60p. I find on the PC when using LAV and madVR that it can not keep up with HW accel ON on my 550Ti (drops frames) but is fine with HW accel off and lower madVR settings. I've yet to try on my HTPC with a 660 but I'm sure it will be fine at the top setting for madVR as it eats all files fine in previous tests. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

They key to this hack is PD12 produces a std BD structure and meta data so it is not flagged as AVCHD 2.0 but a STD BD. As a result all players will attempt to play the content and it is then down to the HW if it can render such high bitrate / frame rate content. If it stutters or pixelates then the HW is just not powerful enough. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Good morning or did you never go to bed?

I used the "turn on" then rebooted and the BR came out as 720 according to media info So rebooting will reset the registry ?
Will do this again, the computer promts indicated changes to the registry and so on.

Thanks for the great work !!

jmone can you have the same change done so "create disc" (3D DISC) allows for BluRay and 1920x1080/60p or 60i so I don't have to produce them to usb stick and imgburn them so see it on my Sony player and TV that support AVCHD 2.0?

Thanks for the work!

The Registry Keys are unique to each version. I have to go out now but I can test to see if the same change in the PD11 Key will do the same thing (I'm sure it will).

...or as DHNJ found try editing it manually but .... do it in PD11

VE2FET - Once we have a few reports that this change works we can see if the same approach can be used on other profiles (next would be the 2ch version etc).

I'm not much for 3d but with the mod applied, the output from the "3D Disc --> Blu-ray --> HD 1280 x 720 & Dolby Digital 5.1 Channels & 3D-BD" profile creates 1920x1080/50 (or 60p) content. Have you tried it to see if it is 2D or 3D?

Edit - since I have no 3D footage I'm just guessing what the output would look like anyway. If you have a small sample 3D project in PD you could use the "File --> Pack Project Material" and upload it somewhere.

I did make it one year onto the beta testing team (for PD11) when AVCHD V2 support was new(er) - that is about it.

What I like about PD (and similar) packages is they are all based on the concept of a single encoding engine that gets feed various parameters to control the output. The challenge is finding where these parameters are kept and how to modify them. In P9/10 it was all about creating and modifying custom file profiles in the "Profile.ini" which was easy as you could read them in plain text, had descriptions and there was one line per profile. Another (competitive) package had their settings in binary files so you have to hex edit these ones but it was still and 1:1 relationship. This one is a bit more complex as while it turned out to be a single value change in the registry, there seems to be a multiple relationship between the profiles exposed in PD and the registry keys I've not worked out yet. When testing, one value change in one key was impacting more than one profile. Anyway - hopefully it has unlocked 1080/50 or 60p BD burning

Thanks

XLTN and thanks for the feedback!

So far the mod only works with the following 2D Disc profiles:
- H.264 / DD 5.1

Other possible 2D Disc profiles combinations that could be modded are:
- H.264 / DD 2.0
- H.264 / LPCM 2.0
- MPEG2 / DD 5.1
- MPEG2 / DD 2.0
- MPEG2 / LPCM 2.0

I imagine the "H.264 / DD 2.0" would be popular but I'm not sure in anyone would need the others. Any suggestions on what profiles people needed modded?
Thanks
