Hi

I produce my HD video files using the MPEG2 BD 1920x1080 profile.

I then transfer this file to a memory stick and upload it to my blu-ray player/recorder.

The original footage is archived on a blu ray disk and on an external hard drive.

We all have different ways of saving and playing our projects. Trial and error is the best way to learn. Happing editing

Hi,

Most of my projects are of my family, I have two young sons

I shoot in 1920x1080/25p (24mbps) using my Canon HFS200 or HFM31. The footage is compatible (most of the time) with SVRT so my workflow is as follows:

In the 'Edit' module

1. Import clips onto the timeline;
2. Edit clips and apply transitions/text overlays etc (I rarely apply many of these with family footage);
3. Apply chapters (an absolute must if you want to skip to certain points quickly - typically with family footage there are loads of very different kinds of clips);

Goto the 'Create Disc' module (my footage is SVRT compatible so no need to pre-produce before authoring)

1. In 'Content' Import any additional PD projects (I usually have about 3 or 4 on one blu-ray);
2. Apply a menu structure, theme, menu music etc;
3. In 'Disc Preferences' select blu-ray -> H.264 -> HD 1920x1080 (24mbps);
4. Burn to blu-ray folders;
5. Use Power2go or imgburn to burn to blu-ray.

I recently burnt a blu-ray with 5 PD projects on plus a menu with a total running time of 3 hours to blu-ray folders in about 90minutes.

As Neil said, everyone has their preferred method and this is mine! The current SVRT bugs have caused me a few headaches but I've managed to work around them. In PD8 this worked perfectly.

I agree with the comments about productions needing to be short to keep the punters happy, and that certainly would apply to say a holiday film. However, for me I don't really want to miss any footage of my kids out! I've just become very good at only shooting things they do for very short periods of time, hence the huge number of clips, and chapters!

Cheers,

Andrew

This weekend I made the large project presentation to my family. The Bd created in DVD was perfect, no problem. However, high-definition, Blu-Ray disc was almost perfect:
The 1 hour and 20 minutes movie with 15 chapters appears at the beginning with of some horizontal bars (as well as sometimes seen in a. AVI). The majority of transitions (cross transitions), the beginning of the next clip appears paused before the transition.
Any ideas?
