Help!! I must be doing something wrong. I'm working with PowerDirector 12 and have downloaded all of the updates. However, when trying to create a DVD, the software is stuck at 5% for 24 hours. Thanks for any advice. Running on a Dell Laptop with Windows 8.1.
Thanks
Andy

Did you modify a Menu?

As a test try the No Menu option and try to create a Disk Folder only. (Uncheck Burn to Disk, Check Create a folder).
If that is successful, try one of the default menus (I like Petal) without any modification.

Thanks for the advice. I was using the No Menu option. However, I cannot find the spot to Uncheck Burn to Disk and check Create a Folder. Is this in the "Produce" section or the "Burn to Disc" section of the software? Thanks again.

Those are in the Final Output Window after you click the 'Burn in 2D' button in the Create Disk Module.

They only apply when creating a Disk or Disk Folder.

Thanks again for the advice. I've tried to Create a Folder and PowerDirector will simply run for hours and won't even calculate a "Time remaining:" number. It only shows: Progress: 0%.

In preferences, go to "Hardware Acceleration" and untick both boxes, have nothing selected.
In "Create Disc", select no menu for now to keep things simple, in the "Burn in 2D" make sure "Enable hardware video encoder" is unchecked at the bottom of the dialog box.

Try again to burn your project to a folder.

Hi.
Your laptop doesn't seem to meet the minimum system requirements for PD12. See requirements here. That could be part of the problem.

Jeff's suggestions worked....at least I think they did. I was able to burn a disc in a couple of hours. However, the DVD won't play on any of my devices. The DVD "looks" like it was burned....any suggestions?

Thanks again for the advice.

What is your Country TV Standard?
NTSC OR PAL?

If your country TV mode is PAL and you burn a NTSC disk, it will not play in many Players.
There are a few players that will play both formats.

THANKS THANKS THANKS!!!! Burnt a DVD, it worked....almost.

I needed to change the Timeline frame rate in the Preferences to 60FPS (NTSC) and it worked!!

The last thing must be another setting somewhere. The DVD looks fine on the laptop, however when I play it through a Sony DVD player onto a Sony 42 inch HD TV, I get black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Any thoughts on this???

Thanks again for all the help. I'm feeling like I'm almost there!!

Andy

Standard definition video played on the big screen HD TV.

Most TVs has a screen format adjustment what allows you to fill the screen. Mine is labeled "Wide"
