I just 4 days ago bought a Asus laptop with Windows 8, couldn't get it with win7, and will like to run PD9 without all of the previous problems.

I run PD9 patch 3305.
Haven't installed MediaEspresso which was included the offer.

I am already hit into trouble.

1)
>>
C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector\PDR9.exe
The application failed to start because side-by-side configuration is incorrect.
<<

However, after reboot PD9 started.

2)
When I have opened a project (even a small one - less than 3 minuts, see attchment) and click 'play movie' PD9 start rendering the image then stop awhile then start rendering, stop awhile, start rendering ...

In Settings - Hardware Acceleration I've tryed with:
a) only 'Enable hardware decoding'
b) only 'Enable NVIDIA CUDA technology...'
c) both enabled
with no difference in preforming.
And it doesn't seem that the CPU and RAM are used a lot

3)
>>
PowerDirector has stopped working
One problem was the fault of the program ceased to function properly. Windows close the program and notify you if a solution is found.

You might check this locked post and read what the moderator has said about Powerdirector 9. It is old and not likely to be updated.
Your main problem is maybe the Nvidia Driver.
Windows 8 is not likely to let you downgrade the video driver that much. If you could use Nvidia 301.42, PD 9 may work on Windows 8.

Thanks Carl,
seems that it wasn't such a good idea to buy a super powerfull labtop - now I've got 2 pc's that don't run PD9 propper.
I'll try the trial version of PD11 and see how it runs.
Though, I saw at this forum that PD11 also has a problem with NVDIA and hardware acceleration - has this been solved?
cheers, Anja

PD 11 has a patch that fixes the Nvidia problems.

You cannot patch the Trial version. You can patch full versions.

Oho! So now the trial version is potentially useless if you have the later Nvidia driver. Looks like another attempt by Cyberlink to twist people's arms. This situation just goes from bad to worse. Regards,
Mike

That I do not know.

The trial is usually the latest patched version with some limitations.
And the Trial is free and works for 30 days.
