I recently "upgraded" to PD8 after using PD7 and struggling to complete a project in a timely fashion in between crashes only to find that after all my efforts the DVD burn failed. I was forced into a time consuming work around to output in segments to MPEG 4.... etc etc
So I switched to PD8 and have once again been struggling with crash after crash and am I wasting many hours recovering my work. This software is potentially very powerful with many nice features but is rendered completely useless by its instability.
Cyberlink needs to up their game or risk losing many customers. Just judging by this board alone there are many people who are already very unhappy...

totally agree with OP.
Read that support link above. I cant believe in this day and age tech support are telling you to delete temp files and empty your recycle bins.
What a load of rubbish.

Ok,
Here's a lesson for each of you. Yes, I know that might rile some of you.
On this forum it is less about whining and more about common sense to resolve an issue. NONE of you have provided precise details of the actions you were undertaking at the time. NOT ONE of you have given a definitive break down of a replicable action. I consider each of your posts to be of a very poor quality, buck up your ideas and give data in a manner some of us can use!
This is a website paid for by CyberLink, it isn't a place to advertise, compare or promote other company's products. Desist from such action.
Right, IF you want to resolve your issues instead of whinging I expect to see the following, as per my instructions below, posted here.
http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/2405.page
Subject: PowerDirector - information we request and tasks to carry out.
PART A - name it
PART B - provide it
PART C - do it
PART D - Read and carry out
PART E - provide them
Now get on and be an editor and provide the data for the rest of us.
I for one am utterly fed up with the petty pontifications when a bit of self help and calmness would get issues resolved quickly!
I hope you all understand this message!

Interestingly alan, a quick review of all 9 of your posts reveals virtually nothing of constructive use.
They all appear to be about your problem, outlined in a way that is more reminiscent of a personal blog than a technically competent outline of a problem and a request for assistance (heaven forbid you might also offer assistance to anyone)
Still...... perhaps the 'other forums' will appreciate your blogging input more and you will feel more at home with them. I wish you well.
bye

When I have had burn failures in the past, it has always been one of two things. It is either a bad disc - my computer will not burn a Memorex brand disc no matter how many I try - or the burn speed is too fast and it runs out of buffer. I have had no trouble with PD, but I usually burn without menus, so this may not even apply to anyone here. Try slowing down the burn speed. Even though your burner and disc may support 16x, you may get better results at 4x.

It is extremely frustrating when you encounter unexplained issues with any piece of software. However, clear and constructive feedback is the only way to properly address any issues you encounter, especially when seeking support from other users.
From my short time on this forum, I have recieved considerable support from many people and have been given the opportunity to provide experience and feedback to CL that will hopefully help to improve everyone's experience of PD 8.
This is not a bad forum, totally the opposite.

It's a fact that this website is paid for by Cyberlink , but the product we buy is paid by US and Cyberlink has to provide proper support. It's not always possible to give a good description of what goes wrong: the darned thing crashes all the time, without giving you a chance to investigate.
I'm not the least bit impressed by the fact that you are "utterly fed up". You have to do your job and not confront customers with your frustrations. I'm an IT-professional myself. If I did react to my customers like you do, I would be out of business very soon.
What we all want is answers and, above all, improvements to a product that is not worth its money in the shape and condition it is in now.
If you call this whining, please do so and be happy with it.

No offence Jan, but no one here works for CL.
Forum heading :-
"This is a forum for CyberLink members to discuss and share their users' experience. CyberLink customer support will not reply in the forum regarding the technical issues"
Dafydd, as moderator, has some contact pathways to CL in certain situations but the rest of us are just users.
You have to accept that most of us share, to a greater or lesser degree, some of the frustrations inherent in consumer software and most folk are only too happy to help with specific issues.
But it can get both boring and irritating to read posts that are just opinions, rather than providing info to work with because the poster gets nothing back and no one else can offer proper help. The forum seems to work best when posts are focussed on a problem and folk can apply their experience to it.
I appreciate your wish to have answers but I, for one, need to have a reasonably specific problem to give an answer to. For example, a general sentence "PD crashes a lot and needs fixing" is only marginally more than an opinion and I can't really help with any answer.
Whereas your own post under "PD8 menus" is more specific and precise and I'm sure folk can give you some help.
As it happens, I think sometimes it is necessary to be blunt - even with customers - when they are unreasonable.
Cheers
Adrian

Adrian,
Thank you for you valued contribution here.
Jan,
As the moderator here I train and encourage members. The aim is to build a constructive picture for issue replication and resolving. On occasions I need to be very blunt and stop the degenerative content some seem bent on giving as newbies.
You have dragged up this post to give your opinion when you would have been better advised as a newbie to seek further council!
I have removed your limited quotation. I will also delete any further posts by you which are of an attacking nature.
Please point to the topics and posts you have made where you have assisted other members on this forum?
If you wish please contact Customer Support for assistance. http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/index.do
You appear not to want the help of members here.

1) No, I do not "understand" your tone...
2) "Part C, do it." I am a computer engineer, editing the registry is beyond those at the "newbie" level, potentially dangerous, and you are telling them to “DO IT...”
3) I see no factual help here in the least; furthermore asking for the amount of information, screenshots, uploaded files etc., one could debug the program on their own in a shorter amount of time...
Then again, maybe that is what you want.
DO YOU have any information as to why I would receive an error “eEB130581,” during the burn process at 78% complete? (buring at 16x)

Sure K1r2, I have some information for you.
This isn't technical support.
Go to: http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/index.do
Good luck with your problem and I hope CyberLink Support staff can assist you.
It is a fast resolvable issue - but I'd be guessing, using my experience and knowledge gathered from data provided by the list (when members answer the points), you appear to knock!

Is this thread not entitled PD8 Crashing?
Did you not reference http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/2405.page?
Why do you "need" the points answered if this is not for "problems?"
Issue or experience, whatever you want to call it, my “experience” is that the program crashes.
At any rate, I’ll contact prog/support and see what they say, maybe they will have a better temperament.....
