Custom WMV Profiles

One of the first things I do after installing a new version of PDR is to install these custom WMV profiles. Though I rarely use WMV as a production output, I do when I want to email a video or send a lower resolution/bitrate quick draft of a project... to save space & time.

If they're of any use to you, all you need to do is unzip the file and drop the profiles in C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector14\Language\Enu\Profiles - or the appropriate PDR version & language for you. Just the profiles - NOT the containing folder laughing

The profiles will appear under Windows Media, in the Produce module.

As an illustration of file size difference (often important for direct emailing)... a 2 minute project produced to 5 different WMV profiles:

  • WMV9 464X320 @ 400Kbps - file size = 4.29MB

  • WMV9 640X360 @ 600Kbps - file size = 6.43MB

  • WMV9 960X540 @ 2000Kbps (2MBps) - file size = 13.2MB

  • WMV9 1280x720 @ 6000Kbps (6MBps) - file size = 29.3MB

  • WMV9 1920x1080 @ 8000Kbps (8MBps) - file size = 39.05MB

Cheers - Tony

Very helpful Tony. This sure beats creating them all by hand!

Many thanks Tony, I occassionally use the WMV format myself. These will save much time spent in re-creating them again.
