Vital 421:
Welcome to the PD12 Forum. You might benefit from a discreet graphics card, rather than the onboard Intel graphics chip; however, that said, most computers struggle with HD video preview, even very powerful computers. Mine was specifically customized with HD video editing in mind, and I note that when my timeline encounters effects, or scrolling titles, whatever, there is a lag. Your i5 will struggle a bit, but if you are patient, you should see that the produced results are good.
Some folks break large projects into smaller segments, produce each segment as a separate video and then assemble the pre-produced segments into a final project for burning. That way, a lot of the work has been done, so the production times are better.
If you wish, you could submit a dxdiag file (instructions in a sticky thread at the top part of the Forum) and we could have a look to see if there is anything else you could do to improve your PD12 experience. No personal information is included in a dxdiag file - just your computer specs.
Have a great day.
Regards,
-Phil
