PowerProducer 5 vs PowerDirector 7

I understand the general differences between PP5 & PD7 but is there anything PP5 can do that PD7 cannot? I'm not satisfied with PD7's authoring capabilities and am wondering if PP5 does anything different or better.

PP5 supports multi titles but PDR7 can't.

What is meant by "Multi Titles"?

Specifically, I and others that I've seen in these forums want to be able to:
- Have a single page menu with chapters.
- Have as many chapters as I want on a single page.
- Return to the menu after playing a single chapter.
- Have different text or appearance between sub-menus.
- Jump from one menu to another (I.E. out of order).

These are not unusual requests and I have personally done these things with Pinnacle Studio and Sony Vegas Movie Studio. For such an incredible editor, PD7 is woefully lacking capabilities in menu creation. Here's hoping someone at Cyberlink is listening!

PDR only can burn one title from its timeline but PP can import many different video clips.

- Have a single page menu with chapters.
=> PP has the chapter menu page

- Have as many chapters as I want on a single page.
=> Title menu and chapter menu have the same button per page number in PP.
That means you can't put all chapter in the same page.

- Return to the menu after playing a single chapter.
=> PP has a method for playing a title and return to menu. It doesn't apply to chapter menu.

- Have different text or appearance between sub-menus.
=> PP chapter menu is equal to PDR sub-menu. You can change font size and type but you can't adjust its position. You only can change thumbnail's position.

- Jump from one menu to another (I.E. out of order).
=> For this kind of request, you may need to send a formal request to Cyberlink CS. I think they may consider your request in the next version.

Thanks again for your response!

I was having a difficult time understanding what you meant when you said "import many different video clips" until I read one of the sub-points where you say "PP has a method for playing a title and return to menu".

So, if I understand correctly, when you say PP can pull in many video clips, you are saying that after each clip it returns to the menu.

I've used several different video editors and never had one that could not make a menu where a clip could be made to return to the main menu without going to the end of the entire DVD. Hopefully they'll make some major improvements to the menu editing and also give PD the ability to "reverse" a video (again, like most other video editors). Then I can stick with just one editor!
