Hi,

Running PD 10, Win7 64Bit, Intel i7 950, 12Gb Ram, Nvidia 1GB Graphics.

Since changing from an ATI HD5870 to a Nvidia GTX 560 Graphics card I now find that
the choice for selecting "Enable Hardware Decoding" (in Preferences: Hardware Acceleration)
is greyed out.

Does this mean that Hardware Decoding is not available with the Nvidia Graphics Card?
or:
Is there some settings or maybe a Nvidia download available to make this option available?

regards Patrick.

Running PD 10 Win7 x32 - I also have the same issue with an ATI Radeon 2400 PRO card which has the latest driver but the field is still showing greyed out - any ideas on what else I can do?

You have done this ???

Notes:
1. Accelerated video encoding on AMD graphics cards requires the user to install the AMD Media Codec Package, also known as the Avivo™ Package. This package is available as an optional download when obtaining an AMD Catalyst™ Display Driver for AMD desktop graphics and notebook graphics products, available at www.amd.com.
2. CyberLink PowerDirector 10 also supports AMD Fusion E-series & C-series Accelerated Processors Technology.

Hi David & Kingsmeadow

After my initial driver update the option to select Hardware Decoding WAS available.
However I noticed a few days later that the option was again greyed out.
I decided that it was definately something to do with the Nvidia driver installation.
In my case it was one of the "other" installations that come with the driver update proper.
It was to do with "3D Video or Games Setup" or something like that, and after uninstalling
it my Hardware Decoding option returned.

I think that had I known the correct settings for the optional "rogue" package I could have
probably cured the problem in a more civilised manner.

I do realise that you are using an ATI/AMD video card, but it may just be a setting or
something similar.

Just a thought.... Regards Patrick

That is an older model ATI card, and I don't think those features are availible with that card. You may need to upgrade to a 6000 series, to support the new driver features.

The latest AMD update "forked" it all up. Reverting to an older driver will NOT fix it. Apparently, some key in the registry is messed up and retained, even if you un-install the package. Someone else on here got it to work by doing a clean install of Win7 and sticking with the previous driver. So in a word, the rest of us wait. Maybe the next updated driver package will fix it. It's not just PD10, DVDFab also lost the AMD acceleration. But in my experience, YMMV, it's just as fast without it.

I wonder which driver actually works. This also seems to occur in mediaespresso. I tried 12.1 then 11.9. I hope I done have to clean install windows. It seems ATI only supplies 12.1 Codec package.

11.9 works, but from everything I have read, only a clean install will revert it properly. I'm just gonna wait for the next driver update, hopefully it will be fixed. It is seeming as though ALL apps are affected, so I imagine the volume level for a fix will increase

Follow these instructions:

1. Go here and download the latest ( full package) driver, for your operating system and your card. But don't install yet. http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/downloads.aspx

2. Go to add and remove programs and use the ATI Catalyst Install Manager to do a complete uninstall of all its resources. Do not reboot. Instructions here: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/GPU57RemoveOldGraphicsDrivers.aspx

3. Download Guru3D (actualy download same time as #1) - Driver Sweeper (Setup) download from Guru3D.com and install it.

4. Reboot in Safe Mode and run Driver Sweeper. Select "ATI Display" box and click "analyze. " Then in "clean". Reboot normally and try to install the latest version of the AMD Catalyst. It can be download from here: http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-c...ndows-7-a.html

5. Restart in regular windows mode.

6. Install the full driver pack in #1.

7. Restart. You are ready to go.

Note: be aware that your older card still may not support the newer driver features, regardless of what driver you use.
