Hello
Just had my PD10 for 3 days now, really great software.
my movie is all done, and have created a DVD.
When I try and play it on my DVD player it shows the menu, and even shows a preview of the first movie, but when I play, it plays about 2 seconds worth and then stops, it then tries to play the second movie and does the same.

I have re-burned the same to 3 disks now, and even created mpeg2 files and tried to make a DVD from theses, but with the same results.

also tried different makes of disks

Any Ideas

Many Thanks

Mark

Does the DVD play okay on your PC?

How old is your DVD player? Jerry Schwartz

Try the DVD on another player. When you are convinced it will not play anywhere, then we can pursue remedies. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Unless you report back, we cannot help.
One idea is to lower the burning speed.
Another is try both +R or -R DVD's. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Hi thanks for the replies.

I have been trying to update my DVD panasonic SC-BT205 to the updated firmware, which made no difference.
I have also tried using a alternative DVD make, Sony, and alas no different.
As of yet I haven’t tried a different DVD player but hope to tomorrow.
It works on the Pc's we have at home no problem.

The DVD's I have are all DVD-R, will get a +R on Monday as see what that does.
Just another thing, I did burn a DVD using Windows Live Movie Maker and imported the mp4’s
And that worked!
But the video was cropped left and right a bit.

In PD10 how do I set the burn speed?

Any more thoughts?

Many Thanks

Mark

Hi Again

Another update, if I create a AVCHD DVD it works!
but thats because my DVD play supports that, most won't.

I do need to test on another dvd player, but it's seems strange to me that it plays a more advanced format and not the standard one.

Getting through lots of disk!!!!!

Thanks for your continued input

Just a note, I have had expensive DVD players that puked up many a DVD it didn't agree with, and cheapos that would play anything you could jam in the tray. Makes no sense. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Try burning the DVD with a free program called imgburn. Just Google it.

So Mark -

You went to Create Disc & selected "Create DVD Folder" & unchecked "Burn to disc"... then used imgburn & your created DVD folder

and THAT didn't work? The DVD won't play???

I doubt whether the burn speed is the issue here, but you can set it in Burn Settings in the Create Disc module. After you click "Burn", you'll see a button with a spanner.

Hi ynotfish

Yes I created the DVD to a folder only.
Then used imgburn to create the disk, single image

It created an ISO first, then from that I created a disk.

..... This is what I’m thinking,

When I play the DVD it plays the menu just fine, and that as far as I can see is
VIDEO_TS.VOB, which plays the menu and previews the start of the videos just fine, 5 seconds worth etc.

But when you select it to play the Whole Video
VTS_01_1.VOB
or
VTS_02_1.VOB

it errors, just plays the first 1-2 sec's of it then moves on to the next chapter seen.

There must be something in that VOB that it doesn't like.

Mark

PS Got some DVD+R today and will try them in the morning, can't do it now as wife is watch TV!......

Mark -

Have you tried just producing an MPEG-2 DVD HQ file? Does that play properly on your PC?

Have you tried using the produced MPEG-2 files to burn the disc?

Just having stabs in the dark.

Hi

just tried a DVD+R, with no luck, just the same.
I did try creating mpeg2 files and then import them into a new project, and create a DVD, but no luck.

Errrrrrr...

But thanks for your ideas, today I will see what plays on my friends DVD

What folders did you burn to the disk?

A Standard DVD disk has two folders in the root.

AUDIO_TS
VIDEO_TS

AUDIO_TS is usually empty.
VIDEO_TS has all of the Menu and Video files.

If you burned My Video folder, you are one folder off.
You burn the two folders in the My Video folder.

My Video is not to be burned to the Disk.

Hi Carl312

Thanks for you reply

Yes I did burn the
VIDEO_TS folder, and not the my video folder.

It played the Selection menu OK
But just gives up playing the Main Video

Thanks

Then it either has to be PD (incompatable output file) or DVD player (incompatable playing the file). Try producing the project without the menu, as that may be the issue.

Please carry out a test and report back.

Hi Dafydd Bevan

Many Thanks for your reply.
Ran tests as instructed using the Nature.mpg
Both tests ran Ok, with a Burn successful msgbox.

Test1: Created a Folder call My Video/AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS.
AUDIO_TS folder is empty
VIDEO_TS folder has the files;
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB

Test2: create a DVD, when played on my DVD player I see the monopoly board and it displays a moving preview of the Nature.mpg
Selecting play only plays 2 second worth of sound and no movie.

Only extra message I received was when adding the Nature.mpg to the timeline is said it was conveting the file to PAL from NTSC, I dont get this with my video files.

I don't know if that tells you anything.

Many Thanks again

Mark
