Hi:
I want to create an animated map that shows on a map background an animated path we took on our vacation.
For example I would like to draw a line that starts as a dot in LA and ends as a line in Seattle representing the 1st segment of our trip to Alaska.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

I have sent a link via PM.
It is freeware, and is a lot of fun and easy.
This I have used for maps, and also if you are creative, you can make animations of other simple things like shapes.
HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)
Nvidia GTX 960(4GB)/16GB DDR3/
Canon Vixia HV30/HF-M40/HF-M41/HF-G20/Olympus E-PL5.

Hi just_for_fun -

If Barry sent you what I think he sent you, here's an example http://www.youtube.com/user/ynotfish77#p/u/12/_Fpg1u8tL0o

A couple of things about the example:
1. the animation was recorded with screen capture software, because the video generated by the software lacked clarity
2. the plane was added later in PiP Designer, even though the software has the facility to include symbols for travel methods

Cheers - Tony

If you have an image of a line and apply a (i might not have the exact name) "Wipe right or left" transition it will look like its drawn in. Just apply to the beginning of the line, don't link it to any other clips. Then you can time a plane to go over it just before it shows up.

Hi, The software everyone I think is referring to was located thanks to Robert/Oz, I listed it on a site for PD editors for a while. The software is dependent upon having a map to use. Route generator: http://sourceforge.net/projects/routegen/

I found the software a tad cumbersome and now have a different method which when CyberLink launches it we will all use I'm sure.

Replication of maps can be a problem - copyright issues. here is an opensource link PD editors may find useful:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/

Both are free and I'm not aware they carry any advertising harmful to CyberLink.

I tend to use Adobe CS5 Falsh and export as a movie - gives great resolution, and has some good features, but it is a bit pricey Chris Tayler
