Power Director Keeps Crashing

While working on a project in PD 8, the program keeps crashing many times. I get a message Power Director stopped working. Windows is checking for a problem. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Any ideas what could be causing the problem and how to fix it? I just recently reinstalled PD because was getting a message about Rich color not installed very time I opened the program.

I have Windows 7.

Thanks for your help.

To help us understand the "full picture" please can you attach a diagnostic file to your next post?

Please also state clearly what version of PowerDirector 8 you have?

Take a screen shot - follow the instructions in PART F and attach it to your reply.

The information requested is simple to provide but is essential for members to be able to offer you support.

Instructions below, Part A, B and F apply.

********************************
You can not pinpoint the issue BUT you can give more detail of content and provide a visual image as well as a diagnostic of your set up. Please note that 3 (x100kb) images/files can be attached to your reply.

Power Director version 8.00.2704

Was trying to capture the screenshot of the error but right I'm unable to. What I did I uninstalled again and this time I removed the user folder from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Maybe this helped. Do I need any more patches?

Monika,
Thank you for the diagnostic file.

1. For Technical Support please contact:

2. Screen shot would have helped
3. Part D would help. You haven't given any description of the actions, content or useful information of what you're doing in PD.

I have same problem with PD8 from the day I installed it. PD 7 never had this problem. Perhaps one out of 5 will not crash and burn the DVD.

Here is the same message I get each time.

Hi Rickster39,

I'm not a techie, and I'm sure one will chime in shortly.
But I did find this (among many others), in a StackHash_fd00 Google search.

http://forums.techarena.in/operating-systems/1275163.htm

You might try to do a good temp files and registry clean with something like C Cleaner (free app), as it appears the StackHash_fd00 error/fault, in your report above, relates to registry entries, if the info found on the net is correct.
Also a good defrag probably wouldn't hurt either.

Might be worth a try while waiting to see what the big boys here have to say.
