Does PowerDirector 14 have a batch rendering queue for overnight rendering of multiple projects?
[Post New]
Does PD 14 contain a "rendering queue" or "batch rendering" concept that lets me edit multiple projects, and then start them all automatically rendering when I leave for the day? Or, do we have to manually initiate project rendering, one at a time?

If that functionality is there in PD 14, where do I look and how do I do it? [Nearly ordered: Xeon E5-1660 v3, 8C, 3.0/3.5GHz; Quadro M5000 8GB 2048C; 32GB 4x8 DDR4 2133MHz; 1TB SATA SSD; 4TB 5400rpm SATA]

It does.

In PD14. File > Batch Produce. Then select the project files.

I have not used that feature because I only work on one project at a time.

You can search in PD Help for "Batch Produce" without the quotes for more information about Batch Produce. Carl312: Windows 10 64-bit 8 GB RAM,AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz,ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB,240GB SSD,two 1TB HDs.

Analyst7 & Carl312,

I recall seeing "Batch Produce" in Power Director as far back as Version 5, but for myself, like Carl, I've never used it. I wonder if anybody has used it and how did this feature behave. Did it run smoothly or did it create probems for the end-user?

Neil and Carl,

I scheduled four projects to render in the Batch Produce, Started it, and they all seemed to go through sequentially OK and pretty efficiently. But I don't recall that I had selected all of them to be the same format & size output - that is something shown in the Batch Produce matrix chart, but you can't edit it from there.

But I expect that over the next couple months I'll get plenty of experience, running some 1 and 2 hour videos through along with some that are 2 to 30 minutes. At least it can be done, and that is the big thing that clinches buying the Director Suite 4 (perpetual one-time license) as my software solution. [For the money, it made sense to get some of the other programs to fill the software gaps rather than other stuff.]

I'll try to pop back in and report on what I find.

Brian

Hi, Brian!

My thinking is, because it's "batch produce", it will naturally produce each project to the same specifications(whichever specifications applied to the first project would also apply to the remaining projects waiting their turn in the production line). I would not think it likely or possible that say, project 1 would be produced in MPEG2 HQ, project 2 produced in MP4(H.264), Project 3 in WMV, and project 4 in some other file type. Set parameters for the first project and subsequent projects will have the same parameters applied, in other words. As Carl312 had said, he'd never used it as he, like me, works on one project at a time. Obviously you have now tried "Batch Produce", did it cause you any problems? If not, then you'll likely use it more in the future, good luck! I posed the question in my last post: "I wonder if anybody has used it and how did this feature behave?". It might be interesting for Carl(312) or Brian(Analyst7), and maybe myself to hear from others.

Neil.

Batch produce automatically sets the same output format, but also it has the option to edit individual videos output format:

Sonic - wow. Thanks much for the great screenshot! I think it makes this thread more useful, and will be very helpful through the life of PD 14. It makes me even more confident that I'll be in good shape with PowerDirector. And fortunately (side note) the OS on the new box will match everything here on Win7Pro, so that should enable me to avoid many of the driver compatibility headaches.

Thanks again! [Nearly ordered: Xeon E5-1660 v3, 8C, 3.0/3.5GHz; Quadro M5000 8GB 2048C; 32GB 4x8 DDR4 2133MHz; 1TB SATA SSD; 4TB 5400rpm SATA]

I don't have any issues here with Windows 10, lately it seems to be very stable and the drivers... just work.
But sure Windows 7 is great too.

Well I've been blown out of the water - again! I'd have thought, by the wording, "batch produce" would render each video project in a queue with the same parameters. SoNic67 has well-and-truly shot that theory full of holes!
